Okay, but would not buy again,

I was so excited when I first bought this. It had all the features I was looking for. First, I will state what I do like. I like the 12 cup capacity, the timer, the appearance, the coffee tastes good, and the price. What I don't like (and my husband hates) is the dripping carafe when you pour your cup, the dripping when you try to pause mid-brew for a cup (that never tastes right-too strong), the hot plate is flaking and peeling, rusting and causing my carafe to have rust stains on the bottom. You have to pull the whole coffee maker out from the cabinet to fill with water and then it spills as you push it back. The filter allows coffee grounds to infiltrate every pot we make. We have owned it for two years and my husband has complained every morning. It is either get rid of it or him and he is a quality product so I guess the coffee maker is going to have to go. We are looking for another one, but I am cautious not to get into another sad tale. It is a shame too. Mr. Coffee should be doing a better job than this.

I have been buying Mr Coffee coffee makers for years and loved them until I purchased this design. This redesign is awful.First, the coffee keeps dripping when you remove the pot; not just as brewing, but always. The new design is strange in that the lid that opens in order to pour water in the reservoir is the entire top, therefore, so large you cannot fully open it if you have upper cabinets. You have to pull the entire pot to the edge of the counter to open the lid.Very poor design.I disliked it so much I threw it away after 3 months.

Makes coffee, but design is complete garbage,

After decades of making coffee pots, you would think that Mr. Coffee would figure out how to make a pot and lid that doesn't drip all over the counter as you pour coffee into your cup. The part of the lid over the lip of the pouring area catches the coffee and drips it over the side and onto the counter.
The coffee doesn't stay very warm. If you expect to brew a pot and pour a cup anytime after a half-hour you will get a luke-warm cup. Our last Mr. Coffee didn't have this problem. If your paper filters are not COMPLETELY tucked into the side of the basket, the water will catch the edge of the filter and fold it inward. The grounds then float over the top on the filter and into the pot. Super. Good things? Let's see... A white cord; easy to clean; lid doesn't stain very quickly (like others do); brews fairly fast; quiet; timer is easy to set; not completely hideous to look at. I would pass on this coffee maker. It's annoying to have to clean up the coffee drips and not be able to get a hot cup of coffee after you are done with your first cup.

dripping pot,

I returned my Mr. Coffee after 2 days because I couldn't pour a cup of coffee from this pot design without it srteaming down the front of the pot and all over everything. I was pretty sure it wasn't just me since I have no problem with my old Bunn pot, but still felt better when I saw another reviewer with the same complaint. Like that reviewer, I can't believe Mr Coffee doesn't know it is a flawed design and already have corrected it.

I bought mine from a brick store years ago before I became a daily Amazon buyer. I love this affordable little machine. I use great coffee beans and filtered water. Tastes great. a cup of coffee is NOT 8 ounces, 5.5-6 oz? I pay $10 for a pound of ground and get about 70 cups. 10 a day every day. I have used this machine every day (ok, almost, since I do travel sometimes) for at least 3 years and never had a problem. I only use the delay when I have a visitor staying at my home, it works great. I only cleaned it out once and it has not gotten clogged. This unit, good beans and good tasting water will give you a great cup of joe, ever time!

Mr.Coffe DRX20 is maybe a little bulky, but it needs to be bigger since brews 12 cups instead of 5 as most counter top coffee makers, I use it every day, never got a mess or stop brewing in the middle of the process,..is not trendy looking, is more for the busy family home.

Still searching for a decent maker.....,
This review is from: Mr. Coffee DRX20 12-Cup Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
I purchased this at JCP to replace a BlacknDecker 15+ year old under the counter maker (best coffee maker I ever had), and I paid a heck of a lot more than Amazon's price. This maker is being used for 1 to 2 pots a day. I've been using it about 2 weeks now.
I have nothing but CON's for this machine. 1. It says 12 cup, but coffee produced is only a little over 10 due to evaporation/condensation, whatever. 2. When you open the lid, condensated water on the underside of the lid pours off onto the counter top. 3. When you fill the pot with water, the lever to hold the pot's lid open is designed in a way to let your thumb slip in a hole and get pinched. 4. If you fill the pot to the 12 cup mark, it will spill water all over when you try to fill the reservoir. So, make sure your ground basket is still in the unit and keep the pot over the ground basket when you fill the reservoir. 5. When you remove the grounds basket to empty, water will flow out the bottom. Solution here is to make sure the pot in on the burner when you remove the grounds basket. 6. Slow to brew. If you're not a big coffee drinker, or only make a pot a day using the programming features, or, never had a great machine; you may be satisfied with this unit. But, being a coffee addict, and having a great maker to compare to, this one falls way short and is no better than the 9.99 unit at the local dollar store.

This is a good quality coffeepot, no doubt. The most important issue, however, is you absolutely must unplug it after each use. The little green 'on' light seems to go on with the softest touch, as long as it's plugged in. In our small kitchen, someone could walk past it and not even realize they accidentally turned it on. Sounds crazy, but it happened, and the empty carafe was good and hot when we noticed. I never had this problem with any other coffeepot, and I have owned quite a few over the years. The design is awkward. With my last coffeepot, I didn't have to block access to the cabinet above it just to open the lid. It pulled out to the side. Because it opens to the top, it becomes very wet with steam and has to be wiped down after each use. Other than that, it makes great coffee.
