Long long ago, when I began drinking coffee like a champ in college, I purchased my very first coffeemaker. My old Braun 4-cup coffee maker (that I loved!) finally quit and I needed a new coffee maker in a hurry. I didn't shop around and bought the Mr. Coffee one because it looked similar to my old one.

This review is from: Mr. Coffee DRX5GTF 4-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
Long long ago, when I began drinking coffee like a champ in college, I purchased my very first coffeemaker. It was a 4-cup Mr. Coffee, similar to this one. 5 years later, my future mother-in-law bought a new one for me because she felt bad that it was so stained (that version was white). This incarnation of the Mr. Coffee had an arm that allowed for mid-brew pouring, a step up to be sure. This one was also white.

And now, another 5 years later, that mother-in-law is no longer my mother-in-law, and my Mr. Coffee was stained badly. It also was the victim of a bug invasion while I was out of the country. Time to get a new one! Since both of my previous Mr. Coffees were in perfect working order when they met their demise, I decided to go for another round.

The black finish eliminates the staining problem. The delay brew feature is incredibly easy to set and use (and another step up in the coffee-making universe). I also am enjoying the reusable filter which is easy to clean and reduces my carbon footprint. The brew basket also has the feature that allows you to quell your impatience for the first cup. If find this one to be less drippy than my previous model, and this basket is pretty good at not letting coffee grounds to accidentally pass through. I am also a fan of the windows on either side of the water tank. There is no awkard head twisting while pouring your water in. A good thing to be sure.

My only complaint is that the line for 2 cups on the water tank does not really correlate with 2 cups in the carafe. If I fill it to "3" cups then I get two. But this is a small price to pay for a reliable and inexpensive coffeemaker. Two thumbs up because it's sunny outside.

My old Braun 4-cup coffee maker (that I loved!) finally quit and I needed a new coffee maker in a hurry. I didn't shop around and bought the Mr. Coffee one because it looked similar to my old one.

Things I like:

Programmable feature. I haven't used it yet but like having the option.
The ability to pour a get a cup of coffee before the brewing cycle is completed.
Black color.
Small, compact size.

Things I don't like:

The cup sizes are calibrated fairly small. I need to make three cups according to the coffee maker to fill one regular sized coffee mug. That means I can't make two cups at once.
The 1-hour automatic shut off time is too short for me. However, it's to find any coffee makers that don't have this. I guess it's a liability issue.
The lid over where you pour in water is hard to operate with one hand (e.g., if you have a carafe of water in the other hand) and tends to flop closed if you don't hold onto it.
The only kind of 4-cup filters I can find are the cone style which don't fit well in the flat-bottomed holder. I use them anyway but just flatten out the bottom.
