5.0 out of 5 stars Good and Quick
After reading a lot of reviews on other machines, I chose this one and I'm so happy with it. I am the only coffee drinker in my family, and I can make two lattes/cappuchinos in just a couple minutes.

It is easy to use and easy to clean. The frothing attachement works well, but it does take a few times to get the timing down. For the price, I think this is...

1.0 out of 5 stars This machine sucks
Mine broke on the THIRD use. The milk steamer doesn't work anymore, all the steam blows out of the top cap. Luckily, there is a warranty, I'm waiting for it to get fixed, or for them to give me a new one. I'll let you know what happens.

Don't listen to the coffee snobs that think that pump-driven is the only kind to get. Not all of us have the money to afford one.

I use Starbucks espresso and it tastes great! Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars It does the job, November 27, 2003

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mr. Coffee ECM91 Steam Espresso and Cappuccino Maker (Kitchen)
I wanted a very inexpensive espresso maker to see just how much I would use it before I invested in one of the top-of-the-line machines. So, I purchased the Mr. Coffee and it's doing the job better than I expected.

I don't use the froth on the Mr. Coffee because I have a separate froth machine which has opposing beaters that makes thick froth, heats, then turns off, all without using steam. Therefore, I have my froth and espresso ready at the same time. I just pour them both into a 15 oz mug and the result is a very hot and great tasting mocha cappuccino ready in 5 minutes. The Mr. Coffee espresso machine works so well that it may be quite some time before I invest in a super-automatic.

For anyone interested in a froth machine, go to frothaulait.com. I've used mine for 2 years and love it.

The up side:
1. Quick and easy to clean.
2. Simple to use.
3. Makes good espresso.
4. Small footprint.
6. Steam driven so there is no learning curve on tamping the grounds.
7. Makes over 8 oz of espresso which is enough for TWO 14-16 oz of cappuccino.

The down side:
1. Filter retainer clip is a little flimsy.
2. Espresso not comparable to espresso bars or high end machines, but very acceptable.

Tips:
1. Use the provided carafe to measure water and pour into machine.
2. To cool down the boiler quicker just open the steam valve, but put a sponge under it.
3. You can use a cup or carafe unless you want 2 separate cups. In that case use the carafe.

Bottom line:

I can highly recommend this inexpensive entry-level espresso machine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the $$, January 12, 2004

Unlike to some other Mr. Coffee products, this one is built to last and does not produce coffee that tastes like plastic. I've had this product for over 4 years now, and I never had the slightest problem with it. Highly recommended!!!

I always wanted one, but they were very much out of my price range. I just got one today as a gift. My first try came out fantanstic! Just like at St**bucks. I went and bought a bottle of almond rocha syrup and caramel syrup. Made me a almond rocha latte. MMMMMM.....tastyyyyyy. Saves me about $4 bucks a cup compared to going to a local coffee shop. The bottle of flavored syrups from smart n final are only about three dollars. Im very happy with it. If your thinking about buying this one, and your on a budget, rest asssured you will be pleased with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little coffee maker, February 12, 2004

I got this coffee maker to see if I really wanted to get a more expensive model. I LOVED the results. It is easy to use, easy to clean and makes great tasting coffee. I did upgrade to a Gaggia but there just is something about that sweet little Mr. Coffee cappucino maker that makes me wish I had never given it away....

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous - outstanding espresso., August 24, 2005

This little machine delivers! We decided to try it because it cost only $30. The espresso is excellent by itself, but we add hot water and steamed milk. Until we bought this machine, I'd rarely had a decent cup of coffee after moving from San Francisco to Oregon. We've used it four times since Sunday and love it. Sure, this might break in a year...we'll just buy another one.

The directions state that a special grinder is needed to get the correct coffee grind consistency. We used our $10 Braun and simply ground the beans to "sand". Works fine. Easy to clean, doesn't take up half a kitchen counter. Highly recommend

4.0 out of 5 stars excellent for a new starter, October 23, 2004

This is an excellent expresso mechine for its price and excellent for someone who just start to think about making latte at home. It is very easy to use, very easy to clean. Of cause it is not heat up as fast as big mechine, and takes time to frost the milk. But overall, it can make excellent latte just like the Starbucks if you take your time. I spend about 8-10min to make one nice cup.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent machine!!! Tastes like coffee shop creations!!!, December 27, 2005
By
I received this machine for Christmas, and have already had so much fun experimenting with it! I am very impressed. I have used the traditional cappucinno mix that can be bought at the grocery store, and made with this machine, it, literally, tastes like the expensive drinks one would buy at a coffee shop! I am very happy with it, especially for the price. This will save me loads of money!

Also, very easy to clean!

I love this coffee maker. I have been using it every morning for 4 months. This is what I do.
Put water in. a little more than needed for coffee so just above the 2 line.
Big coffee saucer or a soup bowl.
Pour milk about 1/4 way full.
Dump in some hersheys chocolate syrup.
Water boils, turn to frothing and froth up the milk and chocolate till 2/3rds full.
Turn to coffee and let it go.
Pour milk and chocolate into travel mug.
Pour coffee into bowl to mix with left over chocolate.
Pour coffee from bowl to travel mug.
AWESOME!!!
I have never ever burned my hand with this.
I don't even see how it is possible.

I have had this unit for several months. It is solidly built, unlike some of the Mr. Coffee machines. Makes great expresso. Good buy!
