poor design,

I could not get the cap off the water tank so i returned this item.
what poor design! it is rounded with just a few little raised lines for gripping. nevertheless i was never able to get it open to use the dang thing. returned for a different model with a raised "bar shape" on the cap that you can actually grip to get it open. if you have even the slightest problem opening jars (and i have 100lb grip strength as measured by a PT), then pass on this item. if its this hard to open before its even turned on, imagine how difficult with steam pressure. if i could give it a zero, i would just because of the annoyance of having to return the thing.

Great value,

Probably ten years ago, my husband and I received a Mr. Coffee Espresso/Cappuccino Maker as a gift from some friends. I'm not sure what the exact model was but it was fairly similar to this one. It worked great. No complaints at all and it lasted a long time. In fact, the only reason I got rid of it was because it had been in storage for two months en route to our new home and apparently I didn't clean the frothing tube out very well beforehand. It just looked gross so I decided to toss it instead of attempting to clean it.
So anyway, I just went out and bought this model as the replacement and I couldn't be any happier with it. It was very inexpensive ($29.99) and easy to use. The water reservoir cap has grip "bumps" all around it which I (unlike the previous reviewer) had no trouble using. And best of all, the cappuccino I just made for myself tastes delicious! I think my only complaint with this product would be that it doesn't come with the steaming/frothing pitcher. Not a big deal but it would be a nice extra.

Great but lasts only 2 - 3 years,

This worked great. I loved to coffee and everything worked fine until about 2 to 3 years later. The thing literally fell apart. If you can't afford an expensive mashine for a few years this might work for you. It is great and makes great coffee. Just expect to get a new one in a few years.

Mr Coffee ECM20 espresso maker,
By Zuum (Wisconsin) - See all my reviews

It lasted/worked ok for about 3 years using it once or twice a week, but then in rapid succession it started breaking: first, the clip to hold the filter in the basket so you could empty it while hot. Then the handle of the the carafe. The latest item was the handle for the basket. It was cheap...

DO NOT BUY!!!,

The same exact parts started breaking on my machine, except I've only owned this machine for only a year and a half. The clip on the brew basket was first, the handle of the caraffe second, and now the entire handle has broken off of the brew basket because the screw was rusted inside. I have been searching for a replacement brew basket online and cannot find one so I will just have to purchase an entire new esspresso maker. I have only used this machine an average of once per week since I bought it.

Poorly made,

We use our machine daily. Sometimes twice daily to make espresso. The machine started falling apart. The carafe handle broke then the metal filter basket handle broke. Our machine prior to this lasted much longer and never fell apart. This machine is at most two years old. Very disappointing.

Wonderful for homemade lattes and mochas!!,
By
This review is from: Expresso/Cappuccino
I bought this machine because I wanted to make my own lattes and mochas, and I have been making them daily for a couple years now! I believe the trick is to buy good coffee with the right grind. Friends frequently request drinks from me- and several have told me that mine are better than Starbucks!
Couple of tips: -I bought a couple shot glasses and use these to measure the espresso after it is done brewing - helps keep the drinks consistent. -You don't really need the frothing attachment- it took a little practice, but I can get a good froth directly from the wand. Also, I clean the wand immediately after use and it cleans up pretty easily. (However, I've become lazy and now I usually just microwave the milk!) -Make sure all pressure is released before opening the top- the steamer quit working a month after the first one I bought and I think it's because I failed to do this (laziness again!). I recently calculated the cost of making one 16 oz drink and came up with about 75 cents- pretty good compared to 3 or 4 dollars at a coffee shop! The only time my machine does not produce good drinks is when I use bad coffee or coffee that is ground too coarse or fine. The machine itself is great!

What do you expect for thirty bucks,

I can't believe all you people complaining about a $30 machine breaking after a couple of years. You do not live in the real world. I first got a #120 machine but did not like how it worked. Then an $80 machine, but it also did not work to my satisfaction. Then I just gave up (I thought) and went out and got the cheapest machine I could find - this one. Yes, after two or more years the plastic part on the basket broke off. Next, the plastic bit around the steam thing for frothing milk fell apart. I am waiting for something to break that keeps me from using the machine, but so far that has not happened. But after all, I only paid $30 for it, so I have zero complaints (well, I do wish I could buy the broken parts, but, again . . . $30?)

Works Okay,

I have just gone through my third one of these in five years. For the price it works okay. The last one ~ the on/off knob broke off. The other two just quit working. I think that old saying, "The Third Times A Charm" really doesn't apply here. I'm going to look for something a little more spendy and hope for the best. I really wouldn't recommend it.

works great, just a little bit on the small side.,

I got this for my birthday back in Jan. Works great, but I still need to buy a frothing cup. It works great but makes so little that I really don't get it out when I have more than a couple of people over. I would still recomend it for the pesron who wants to have a small personal machine.
