5.0 out of 5 stars Coffee Grinder
This grinder is the same model that I was replacing. It is quite a bit more stylish with it's shiny exterior. It arrived very quickly and has been doing it's thing every day since. I would recommend this item to anyone. The last one lasted several years and was used constantly.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dead weight
It's shiny and nice looking and worked for exactly three months after which it became a shiny and nice looking dead weight. I substituted it with Hamilton Beach 80365 model and it is much better (and keeps working for the past 8 months with no problem).
I initially chose Mr Coffee because I thought that manual grinding control would work better for my french press,...

5.0 out of 5 stars great grinder, December 20, 2009

Works great. Fast and powerful. Unlike others I have had, not a lot of the static electricity that some have... if you have even had one that blows coffee grinds everywhere, you'll know what I mean. GREAT value for the price.

It's shiny and nice looking and worked for exactly three months after which it became a shiny and nice looking dead weight. I substituted it with Hamilton Beach 80365 model and it is much better (and keeps working for the past 8 months with no problem).
I initially chose Mr Coffee because I thought that manual grinding control would work better for my french press, which requires very coarse grinding. However, I found that Hamilton Beach model has just the right dial in for automatic grinding which still leaves coarseness. Besides, it is also significantly easier to empty and wash.
One little advice - try looking for the coffee grinder in your local Wall-Mart. These very same grinders are on the shelves and at lower price then what Amazon is charging. And if the grinder does not work for you, it is less hustle to return it to the store vs shipping it back at your expense to Amazon.

This was my first time shopping for a coffee grinder and I definately made the right choice. It works great and is really easy to use. Bought six months ago and is still working good as new.

5.0 out of 5 stars So far, I love it!, May 9, 2011

I bought the same grinder as this, only with black plastic (model IDS57), rather than the chrome one shown here, and am entirely satisfied. So far, I have used it mainly for grinding flax seeds, but also to occasionally grind vitamin/mineral tablets; it does the job right, and fast.

I generally feel that simpler is better, so long as the machine gets the job done, as there are fewer things that can go wrong. When I was looking at coffee grinders in the store, there was one model (made by a different company, I think) that had a sliding lever for choosing several settings for different grinds. All well and good, but on the display model, the lever had broken off! How durable would that be when I got it home and was using it every day?

What I love most about my new Mr. Coffee grinder (apart from its reasonable price) is the design. It is simple, and there is a large, clear cap, so that after things have been ground, you can turn the whole thing upside-down and capture the powder/ground beans in the cap and measure or empty things out from there. No need to try to avoid the blades.

Cleaning is easier, too, with this grinder. My old Starbucks grinder (whose virtue was its holding up for three years with sometimes twice-daily use) worked the same way, with a button in the cap being pushed to depress a flat little element in the rim of the bottom part, but the accumulation of powder around that moving bottom element was always a concern; you can't clean around it. My new Mr. Coffee is designed with the depressing and the depressed elements on the outside of the cap, protected from whatever powder may result from the grinding.

I only hope that this one lasts as long as my old Starbucks grinder. But even if it lasts for only 2 years, I will be back, hoping to get another one with the same great features.

I have had several grinders and this is by far the worst one! It did not grind the beans up very fine, it was not convenient. I made a mess everytime I used it... I would NOT tell anyone to buy this one.
