Great Portability - Great coffee - Bad reviewers are being nit-picky!,
By I have to start by saying that I am religious about my coffee. I only drink it if it is good coffee & prepared well. I grind my beans & I only use fresh coffee. I am very picky about every aspect of coffee drinking, it isn't a habit for me but rather an experience. With that said, I have 'tested' each of the problems mentioned in the reviews & here is what I found: Leaking & overflowing - I have never had that problem after weeks of use, I am not sure why one of the posters had this problem, maybe they overfilled it. Coffee grains in coffee - Nope, no problem here, the coffee is perfectly filtered with a paper filter. I haven't seen a grain of coffee yet! Coffee not staying warm - I find that if I keep the lid shut that the coffee stays nice & warm for over 2 hours. Hard to fill - Yes, this coffeemaker is a bit difficult to fill but as someone else suggested, I just use my sink sprayer to fill it & it is a breeze (thanks for the suggestion!). Doesn't pour quickly - Yes this is a bit of a slow pourer but I LOVE the caraffe so much that I won't complain about that at all. Patience is a virtue! Someone else complained that they couldn't clean the caraffe. It does have a small opening but I have found no reason to scrub it (coffee doesn't burn on the bottom like a burner coffeemaker). I rinse it out with some soap & warm water each day & it is fine. It would be easy enough to use a bottle brush as needed. At first I was disappointed with the strength of the coffee (I am a filter-press & espresso girl & I love it strong). So, I started adding quite a bit more coffee than what was suggested. Then one day, I forgot to put the carbon filter in. As a result, the coffee was very STRONG. So, from that point on, I used the 'regular' strength level and tossed my carbon filter into the garbage. It absolutely isn't needed, I didn't notice any change in flavor. So, bypass that silly expense! The main reason why I was intrigued by this coffeemaker is the caraffe. I love the portability. I can take it outside or into the living room to read a book or to the computer, etc. The coffee tastes just as good an hour later & there isn't the burnt taste you get from the burner-type coffeemakers. The clock & timers are self-explanitory & work well for me. The coffeemaker is very nice looking & looks great on my counter. I would recommend this coffeemaker to anyone who would enjoy the benefits & portability of the caraffe. It makes great coffee & has nice styling.

Love this coffee maker -- I'm buying a new one,
By Nightingale (USA) - See all my reviews My husband and I have worn out one of these and we are now getting another. We've been using it at least daily for 4+ years. Our experience has been fine: No leaking No overflowing No stray grounds in coffee Simple to keep clean Inexpensive water filter replacements at local "Big Box" store Fairly early on we dropped the carafe onto a ceramic tile floor. We were sure the carafe was ruined but, other than a small ding in the pot, the coffee maker has continued to brew fresh, strong coffee every day and to pour without leaking. The only time we've had any leakage from the reservoir was when I used the sink sprayer to fill it (sorry guys, I just don't agree with that bit of advice) and I didn't realize I was filling it too much. I find that filling the carafe with fresh, cold water from our water filter and then pouring it into the coffee maker works just fine. That way I know for sure I'm not overfilling it. The coffee pours a little slowly from the carafe, but if you want to keep the coffee hot, you've got to limit its exposure to cold air. Our coffee stays hot for hours so I feel it's a worthy trade-off -- What? you can't wait another 3 seconds for your cup to be filled? The only time the carafe drips when pouring is if you take the lid off before pouring -- an unnecessary extra step that results in the coffee cooling off quicker. Although it's not really necessary, I use the water filter supplied with the unit because I've found that the paper coffee filters are less likely to collapse with the water filter in place -- not sure why, tho. The water filter replacements are really cheap at our local [insert name of Giant Retail Store here]. They also stock an inexpensive permanent coffee filter to use instead of the paper ones -- I just think that the paper filters do a better job. Our Mr. Coffee is still going strong after over 4 years, but the button on the carafe lid won't push in any more -- I suspect that dropping the carafe (see above) contributed to its early(?) demise. We've decided to replace the entire coffee maker because, after four years, it's just a matter of time... A reasonably patient person can't go wrong with this one.

This review is from: Mr. Coffee ISTX95 10-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black/Stainless (Kitchen)
Having read the one review available, we purchased this machine with great confidence, then used it for 3 weeks with tremendous disappointment. Our Mr. Coffee ISTX95 10-cup programmable coffeemaker does not seem to be even vaguely related to the one described in the other review.
It was an excellent price. We compared it mainly to Black & Decker and Cuisinart, both of which we have owned and enjoyed previously. Most of the clever-looking parts, including the catchy clock, are silver plastic, rather than the stainless steel we expected from the product description and the photos. Perhaps this is why the Mr. Coffee does not seem capable of getting hot enough to brew a decent cup of coffee -- it would probably melt itself. If you add just a splash of cream to your coffee, which is how we drink ours, you have to microwave it the minute you brew it, as it arrives less than piping hot from the machine. We agree with the previous reviewer that the carafe does keep the coffee at brewing temperature for about 2 hours, which would be helpful if the brewing temperature were acceptable to begin with. Although it brews a full 10 cups comparatively quickly, it spews so much steam we had to pull it out from under the kitchen cabinets while brewing. We gave this sad little Mr. Coffee every chance we could, trying every possible combination of brew strength, number of cups and expensive premium coffees ground within minutes of brewing. We simply could not urge this machine to produce a decent cup of coffee. We ended up pulling out our old Cuisinart, which had been set aside because the basket door would not stay closed. After a quick home repair job on the Cuisinart's door catch, we are, at the moment, enjoying our first decent, hot, cup of coffee in 3 weeks. Ahhhhhhh.....

Great product, especially if you enjoy coffee and know what burnt coffee tastes like. This coffee pot does not have a warming burner under it, the thermal pot keeps the coffee tasting like it was just made.

Disappointed,
This review is from: Mr. Coffee ISTX95 10-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Black/Stainless (Kitchen)
I bought this coffeemaker hoping for good quality coffee. At first it was great, but..........the carafe pours slowly and is hard to control. Then I made the mistake of cleaning it once according to manual instructions. After that it would never put a full amount of water through - it kept beeping after about 1 cup had gone through so that you have to stand there for an hour restarting the brew cycle trying to get the full pot through. Once it does go through the coffee is horrible. The clock doesn't work. Its signals are confused - it switches over to "clean" mode when you're just trying to brew a pot. After a year of trying to use this pot it has ended up in the trash and I'm buying a Bunn. (I did buy a Bunn shortly after I posted this review 4 months ago and have never been happier with a coffee pot in my life. Forget Mr. Coffee. Spend the $$ for a Bunn and you'll have a fool proof coffee pot that will last a lifetime)

this coffee maker is great. i think the people with 1 and 2 stars don't know how to brew coffee. never had a problem. It keeps coffee hot 2 hrs, easy to put water in ( on the top) as most coffee makers are, has never overflowed ( i remember to empty the cafe) and easy to clean. i have owned 3 coffee makers in 29 yrs and all mr coffees. never disappoints.
