3.0 out of 5 stars Good for Crowds ...
I have had my Iced Tea Maker for about 2 years.

I purchased it as something to make my life (and tea making)a lot easier. And it does brew up a batch of fresh ice tea in a small amount of time.

However, since I am the only one in my family drinking tea, I find that I often end up wasting a lot of tea, and it now languishes in the back of my...

4.0 out of 5 stars We couldn't live without this -- use it at least 2 times per day, December 19, 2009
This review is from: Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker
My husband drinks Iced Tea ALL THE TIME and I have this on-again-off-again addiction to Snapple. We use this Iced Tea Maker at least 2-3 times per day and it works great.

A few things we have had to watch out for:

1. Making sure the "drain plug switch" on the basket is down so the water doesn't just run through the basket without seeping in the tea bags.

2. Making sure that the pitcher is set correctly against the Ice Tea maker so it doesn't leak

3. Making sure the flip lid where you pour the water into the pot is left up after using so that it doesn't condense and mildew on the inside.

Other than that, it is fool proof -- if I can use it being as domestically challenged as I am, I am the fool that proves this! You don't even have to use ice to make iced tea -- instead of filling with ice, just use water up to the first (lower) water line. We do this at night because we know that the tea will be in the fridge over night and have a chance to cool completely.

I have recently discovered Looza Peach, 33.8-Ounce (Pack of 6)and love to add this as a close and cheap approximation to my Snapple habit -- less calories, less caffeine, less money, better taste...

This is probably our 4th generation of the product and they do make slight redesigns each time around so if you are getting a new one, make sure you "take inventory" to figure out what they have changed on you.

4.0 out of 5 stars A bargain workhorse, May 26, 2010
This review is from: Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker
I've had four or five of these Mr. Coffee brand brewers starting in about 1994, and all of them were different. Most lasted at least a year, and my current model -- one with a separate steeping chamber that attaches to the heating tower and not the pitcher -- has probably brewed well over 1000 pitchers. I'm writing here because of the many petty complaints I've read about this $20 workhorse. On mine, the valve stopped working correctly after about 10 pitchers, but I just leave it almost closed and it drains slowly enough to brew just fine (some earlier models were actually designed this way). As for the dishwasher, I've run my pitcher, lids, and steeping chamber through well over 100 cycles (I do it once a week or so). All you have to do is turn off the dryer stage, dummies; that's what melts stuff. I'm ordering another one, not because this one has broken, but after three or four years it's probably on borrowed time. For my $20 I'm sure I'll get another 2000 or 3000 glasses of tea, but I'm sure I can find something to whine about.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ever Iced Tea Maker, March 15, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker
I had received my first Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker many years ago and recently when it decided to quit working I went shopping for a replacement. There was only a newer model available locally and I did purchase it, but was very disappointed. After a couple of months, I went on-line to see if I could find the "old" type model and when I did, I purchased 2. I am very happy with my new Mr. Coffee Tea Maker and I love the new yellow color. Thanks Amazon!

5.0 out of 5 stars 13 years and going strong, July 20, 2010
This review is from: Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker
We got this teapot for our wedding over 13 years ago and use it regularly (almost everyday). We have had absolutely no problems with it (except for melting the pot in the dishwasher once, but we were able to purchase a replacement). It is still going strong. When it does finally stop working, we will definitely buy a new one.
It makes a great pot of tea!

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes perfect iced tea every time, July 4, 2010
This review is from: Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker
I love iced tea, but only if it is made correctly. With this tea maker it is easy to get the same quality every time. We use it at least once every day, sometimes twice. I find it easy to use and easy to clean, you would have to work very hard to mess up a pot of tea with this tea maker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Iced Tea Every Time!!!, February 16, 2010
This review is from: Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker
I absolutely love this machine. It makes a perfect quick brew of iced tea every time. I like to add lemon juice and a small can of pineapple juice for a fruity flavor. I like to drink iced tea all day long. Just be careful with the pitcher (only use it for the iced tea machine). I've had to buy this machine twice because my mother ruined my pitcher (don't ask me how). LOL Fabulous price for a great machine.

This tea maker is nice looking and easy to use. My only problem with it is that it does not make enough tea. I do not add ice when brewing, like the instructions say because I am the only one drinking the tea. I refrigerate the batch of tea and drink it over a couple of days, so if I put ice in the pitcher when brewing, it would melt and water-down the tea while it is stored. If you do not add ice immediately, you only end up with about 1/4 the amount of what the picture shows. I would definitely recommend this iced tea maker due to the fact that it is very affordable and so easy to use.

It works good but I still prefer my older Mr.Coffee tea maker with the teal green lids. This one has a funky spring loaded brew stopper which I don't like and the basket is a little bit deeper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost Awesome, June 14, 2010
This review is from: Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker
This is the tea maker that I grew up using, and I've never seen any other type at the store. I see a lot on Amazon, but it looks like none of them are perfect yet. This tea maker works just fine for me. I like drinking sweet tea, and the way I make it in this machine is to add the water to the machine like normal, then fill the pitcher to the first (water) line with hot water. I add about a half cup of sugar to that hot water, then stir it to mix well. Then I brew as normal. When the tea is done, just stir again and refrigerate until cold. Not as great as being able to enjoy the sweet tea right after making it, but worth the wait

I've never had any problems with this machine, although it would be nice if it was dishwasher safe. The steeping basket also never looks clean after the first time you use it. If the pieces were dishwasher safe, I would have given 5 stars. If there was a way I could brew cold sweet tea, I would run away and get married to it.
