Excellent coffeemaker,

I just bought this coffeemaker to replace an older model of a similar type by Mr. Coffee. The older model stopped working after only a year and I cannot find the box with the receipt to have it replaced (my son-in-law put it away somewhere??). So far this newer model makes an excellent pot of coffee and the strength of the coffee is superb and it comes out very hot!! - so there is no waste using too much coffee to get the right strength. The carafe does steam up while brewing, but does not seem to effect the process at all. I find it slightly difficult to pour all the clean water from the carafe into the top back of the machine, maybe because of the height of the machine. I love the beautiful blue brewing light that comes on when I press the start button. I also love the clock that lights up and it's very easy for me to read the time and to set the time. If there is a power outage and the power is turned back on within 10 seconds, the settings are still in place. It also beeps right before it stops brewing and turns off automatically after 2 hours. I've not had it long enough to rate its' durability, but I am saving the receipt taped to the box and will keep it under my bed in case it needs replacing. I have heard that Sunbeam/Mr. Coffee will replace any defective machine with its one-year warranty. It's a beautiful machine and so far, I love it.

I really like the Mr. Coffee EJX33 12-Cup programmable coffeemaker. The clock beams with a pretty bright pale blue backlight and makes a nice night-light for the kitchen. One nifty feature is the Fresh-Brew Timer which, when pushed, tells how long it has been since the coffee was made. Also, the darker blue light around the Start Button looks very elegant when on. You can adjust the strength for either regular or strong. The coffeemaker sounds three pleasant low beeps at the end of the cycle. However, I notice it still brews for about two more minutes after it beeps. You can still pour your coffee by using the Pause feature, which works quite well. There is one lid on the top that lifts up for filling with water and a second one in which to put the coffee basket.
It is simple to operate, looks attractive on the counter, and goes well with other stainless appliances. My coffee turns out great-tasting. Don't know why another reviewer had problems with this. I'm not sure how much the filter has to do with it, but having to replace it monthly, as suggested, might be expensive in the long run. One con I see is that it is a little bit tall, and has to be pulled to the edge of the counter in order to fill. Another con is that I have to turn the appliance around to the side to see the water level markings. So far, I am very pleased with this coffeemaker, and for the price, I think it is a good value.

I'm pretty picky about my coffee. I make three or four pots of decaf per day. I use Starbucks roasted beans. And I don't like watery "church coffee."
This Mr. Coffee unit does everything I need and has the all-important (at least to me) brew strength selector switch (which really is between regular and strong). The brew pause works well and the carafe, while not "drip proof" isn't a problem. (I have a theory that java-heads are jittery before their first cup and can't pour straight, but that's only a theory). And I like the little "digital/analog" clock...kinda old school. The only reason I didn't give it the full FIVE stars is because the design is such that it's a little difficult to pour 90% of your water into the chamber, and near impossible to pour the last 10%. Two solutions. Close the lid and pour the last couple of cups through the top vent, OR just fill the carafe with more than you need and then just use the last 10% to water that window plant that might otherwise go thirsty.

Just picked this up at Target for 39.99 and I was a little concerned about some of the issues that were mentioned in the negative reviews. First of all this unit is slim compared to the boxy coffee makers and not very deep either. I was able to fit my male hand, size Large , in the carafe but just barely so that was okay for cleaning. Just had a delicious cup of strong expresso coffee with milk and sugar and since I use a lot of milk I did have to nuke it just like every other coffee maker that I've ever used. We usually heat up the milk in the morning. No plastic smell or taste for us. The electrical cord is a little short at 24", but not an issue for us. The water window shows the fluid level clearly, which is a problem on the other unit I own. So for 39 bucks and a large 12 cup capacity I think this is a no brainer!

Got my new coffee maker in October and now (December) it's dead. It looks like it made the 30 day window for the warranty. I'm glad we support the Chinese people the way we do. Also glad for the evil empires that make big money on this kind of business. But now I need to find another coffee pot... Made in the USA, probably not! Welcome to the new world of crap from China. Sorry if I sound disgusted but I'm sure I'm not alone! FYI, it started to boil the coffee 2 days ago, looks like a faulty thermister (temp. control)until a melt down. Careful you don't burn the house down with this coffee pot!

Rico's view!,
This review is from: Mr. Coffee EJX33 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
Since my 3 year old Cuisinart grind and brew quit (what a disappointment)I went to Target to buy this coffee maker. Could of purchased it here cheaper but I wanted it now! Anyway it took me 3 days to get the plastic taste out! That's why only 4 stars. I first ran a cycle of water through it like the instructions said, sat back made a pot of coffee not good, then ran 4 cups white vinegar and 8 cups water through it on clean cycle then ran just water through it, brewed another pot still plastic taste. Finally I ran 12 cups water, 4 tbls. baking soda and 3 tbls. lemon juice through it, followed by another clean cycle of water and just lemon juice. Then one more cycle of water. Well guess what the coffee tastes great now!! Should not have to do all this. But its a terrific looking coffee maker that makes great coffee and now I am happy with it!

Great coffee machine especially for the price,
This review is from: Mr. Coffee EJX33 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker, Stainless Steel (Kitchen)
This is a very good coffee machine especially considering the price. It makes a good cup of coffee, has a great carafe that doesn't spill when pouring coffee out like others I have used. The clock/timer works great, you have the option to make a stronger cup of coffee or not and on top of everything it's a good looking machine. Lots of features.

I bought my last Mr. Coffee at Walmart (I don't remember the model #) and returned it after a month because it completely quit working (must have had an internal fuse blow or something). I went to Target and bought this Mr. Coffee EJX33.
That was in January. Now it's March. It did made OK coffee (just OK) until recently. Twice so far, it has had trouble completing its brew cycle. I always brew a full pot, and when this problem occurs about half of the water flows through and then it just sits there. The water is still in the reservoir - it hasn't made its way up the tube and into the basket yet, so at least it's not sitting in the coffee grounds). If I'm patient, 20 minutes or so later it will start back up and finish the brew cycle. I suspect it has a faulty heating element that is quitting part way through the brew cycle and then, for whatever reason, starting again. Or a faulty thermostat. Whatever it is, I've wasted $50 and am frustrated that Mr. Coffee - THE name in coffee makers for many decades - has let its quality go like this. this is actually the 4th bad Me. Coffee I've had in the last several years, but I keep giving them another chance. That make them pretty without quality. Dear Mr. Coffee Company- fire your aesthetician and use the money to ramp up engineering and quality control!

I wish I had read the reviews on this site before purchasing this elsewhere. I agree that there is a definite plastic sort of taste in this coffee. We buy expensive beans and the coffee maker is not doing them justice. Also, i noticed the coffee is not nearly hot enough...only brews at 160 degrees which is not hot enough to extract all the flavor from the beans. I do not like having to look at the side to see what the water level is. Is there a decent coffee maker out there that doesn't cost a fortune and makes good HOT coffee?
