From Library Journal
In Leighton's exhaustive and sometimes excessively researched biography, Ernest "Dutch" Harrison is remembered as a golfer who won several professional tournaments. Leighton traces Harrison's career from his early days as a caddy to his later years as a club professional. These events alone may have made quite a story, but Leighton intersperses almost countless anecdotes regarding Harrison's gambling, marriages, and friendships. While at times repetitious, Leighton is entertaining as well as amusing. Although few may read his book from cover to cover, serious golf aficionados will refer to it. Perhaps the next biography on Harrison will use fewer strokes and link chapters more concisely to reach to a level above par. For large sports collections.
