A few quick words on teflon tape -

This stuff is recommended by the manufacturer for use on fuel lines using their fuel line componets (elbows and barbs, etc). It works really well for that, and about any other use where you need an airtight seal between threaded fittings.

However, It should be noted that the tape needs to applied correctly. This means applying tape in the correct direction, as well as using the correct amount. There is a such thing as too much of a good thing. While this may not be important in water applications, it IS important in fuel applications where a piece of teflon tape breaking loose could lead to fuel system failure, and possibly severe engine damage.

For direction, you basically want to wrap the tape in such a way that the act of threading the two pieces together doesn't tend to unwrap the tape. For standard threads (which most everything is) - if you are looking directly into the male fitting (the fitting to be wrapped) you want to wrap in a clockwise direction.

Also, if you have to use more than about 1.5 to 2 wraps of the tape, something else is wrong (possibly damaged threads or something). Furthermore, if using the stuff on a fuel application, don't wrap the last few of threads of the fitting, as you don't want any loose tape sticking out to possibly break loose and mess stuff up.

Hope this helps someone out there.

There isn't really much to say about teflon tape. I haven't found 1 I didn't like. But, for the sake of amazon reviews I'll put in my two cents.

Great teflon tape. Got the job done when I was installing my new shower head.

No leaks = 5 stars

I just needed some of this to install a shower head. It works and is not some big ordeal. Wrap a few wraps, cut it or tear it, screw on shower head by hand, done.

not a lot to say about teflon tape, hehe, it was inexpensive and worked like a charm. Very happy with the purchase, and I still have a lot left over after putting up the shower head!

Using Teflon tape is challenging under the best of circumstances as it is very thin and difficult to tear off. Additionally, it is hard to tell if you have covered the seams thoroughly if you cannot see the entire faucet threads. I STRONGLY recommend LIQUID (very thick viscosity) teflon. Sealant is much better and is applied with a thick small brush that really covers the thread easily. I have never had a leak since I bought it last year for a CULLIGAN shower head. Sadly. the Teflon outlasted the shower head as it is a piece of junk made of "chrome covered " material that CULLIGAN will not warranty or replace as it constantly fell off the cheap plastic holder and finally shattered into a million pieces and neither Culligan or Amazon would help me. (Read: cheap plastic construction) Anyway, you will never have to struggle again with teflon tape twisting and tearing as you try to wrap it thoroughly around a pipe thread. Check out the link. It is only $6.74 and will last a lifetime

This tape works. I find teflon tape a bit of a pain to work with but it's good to have on hand I use it more than I ever expect.
