I looked all over for something pretty to cover my cats' jumbo litter pan, and this product -- though expensive -- was the best I could find. It looks the way I expected it to (i.e., as described -- not bad, better than a standard litter box), but the latch on the front panel does not stay closed, so I had to wire it shut myself, which is a pain in the neck each time I want to open it for cleaning. My largest (20-lb.) cat scared himself silly the first time he used it, because the front panel flopped open when he tried to go inside, and he was afraid to use it for a while. I'm keeping it because it's too much of a nuisance to return it, but for this price the workmanship should be much better. And for the record, the first time I ordered this product (from the company), the wrong color was shipped to me. I wouldn't purchase anything from this company (Mr. Herzher) again.

I bought this product to keep kittens from getting kitty litter every where and to have it out of sight,That it does to a extent.But if you want it for keeping the smell down it only does it partly.It does look nice with my wicker furniture I have,that too is why I bought it.You should try this product. It's really sturdy holds up to 3 kittens,Still going strong. I really like this product.

Easy to put together, looks nice. The latch is strong enough to hold but hard to make sure that it's actually caught in hole of latch. If it's not completely latched, it will open on its own.

4 Stars for the item: Easy to assemble, easy to clean, looks nice. But like other reviews, the latch does not catch properly. So, first I set the latch. Then I hit the top-front with the heel of my hand until it snaps in place. Then I give the front a tug to make sure it's secure. Shouldn't have to do that though. Also, the latch handle is a bit close to the front making it hard to grasp and pull down.

1 Star for Mr. Herzher's: What they originally sent to me was a 'used' cover. All of the front metal parts, as well as the latch, were badly scraped and rusted. Clearly it was a well-used return. That they allowed it to be resold was unacceptable. I complained and received a new cover. But too late for them... I will not buy another Mr. Herzher's item again.

With 2 large cats and a large house, our kitties demanded their own box in the front of the house as well as the back bathroom. Unfortunately, that meant a litter box sitting in my dining room. I saw this litter pan cover in a local pet shop but they were using it for their own shop cats and didn't sell the product. I was happy to find it online. It's a bit pricey but I already knew I liked the looks of it. The jumbo size fits perfectly and now the litter box is at least a little less obvious and messy and tucked into a corner of the dining room. The cats have had no problems using it -- the opening at the front is nice and big for them. It was very easy to put together if a bit awkward if you try to do it by yourself as I did. I think it would have been easier with an extra set of hands. My one complaint about the structure is what others have mentioned -- the latch at the front that keeps the door secured. It is hard to pull down and then to reattach it because you can't really see where the hole inside is. Once you get it attached, it does hold steady.
Oh, and the product was shipped to me very quickly. I was impressed because I had originally ordered from someone else, was kept waiting over a month and finally had to file a chargeback on my credit card to get my money back! So I was very pleased that Amazon fulfilled the order within days.

I bought this litter pan cover for our new screened pool area and I'm very pleased with it. It's a little pricey but well made and certainly adds a little class to a stinky situation! We got the dark brown since it matches our wicker conversation set. It comes with a plastic bottom tray with the corners cut out/molded to accommodate the rubber feet from the top portion, my only issue is if you try to move it by sliding the top comes off anyhow since it's not attached, no big deal. Assembly was a little awkward but easy, and the jumbo did allow for an extra large litter box (the bottom portion of a plastic covered litter pan). I would definitely recommend it, and would buy it again.

I've had this product for over a year. It looks nice, easy to use, the litter pan slides in and out easily. My 20 pound cat has no problem with it. The latch has not been a problem. Obviously it won't latch if the door is a little crooked when you shut it. If it doesn't "catch", won't latch, you just need to easily, slightly, move the door a little so the latch catches. I rarely have to do this.

I love this product! I bought it because I was downsizing to a studio apartment and there really wasn't a good spot for the litter box. I thought this might double as a table. I ended up in a 1 bedrm apt but it still helps with space issues PLUS it looks nice from the outside and people who haven't seen one yet DON'T know there is a litter box inside. They are surprised when I tell them. My cat loves it as well, not just to house her litter box but also as a launch pad to jump up to the window sill! She had a little trouble getting used to it but I just didn't read her mind to know what she wanted. She was urinating too close to the edge of the litter box and it would go onto the bottom pan. This was quickly resolved by pushing the litter box back to a rear corner of the cover. It was easy to assemble. I love not having an open litter box sitting out. Great product.

I was disappointed with this product and returned it within a few days. The frame was not a tight construction and the clasp that holds the front opening in place, which is necessary for the emptying of the tray, was loose. The result was that if the cat brushed up against it on entering, it fall open - either behind him or on him. Having had this happen several times, the cat soon learned to avoid this trauma and thus it defeated the object of the exercise.
