5.0 out of 5 stars Thom Bone, founder of Butt Trumpet here!
I just want to say thank you to the rest of the reviewers for everything you've said about this record. Know please that I have rebuilt the band now and have a new, evolved line-up. I also want you to know that I am working hard to reissue this record. I know it's hard to find. I also want to say that this record, even though it was on EMI, is NOT subject to the RIAA...

I also want you to know that I am working hard to reissue this record. I know it's hard to find. I also want to say that this record, even though it was on EMI, is NOT subject to the RIAA because I only licensed it to them to distribute. I retained all copyrights. You can contact Butt Trumpet at www.myspace.com/thombone if you want more info about this. RIAA Radar shows it as RIAA but itiis NOT and never WILL BE! Thank you, and thanks to Amazon for giving me a voice here. Oh, one last thing, until I get this album reissued, feel free to download it online without repercussion if you can find it. I hereby give full permission to share my music any way you like but I do hope that when I get this reissued, that you'll support it by buying it so that we can fund another album for you! Peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars FN Great, December 13, 2001
This review is from: Primitive Enema (Audio CD)
Raw punk, gave me the same feeling as the first time I heard the Sex Pistols (although it has a bit more of a heavy metal sound to it). Everyone I have played this album for, be they Repulican or Demicrat, has enjoyed the raw energy put in to this. It's a shame they broke up because of the record company trying to control content. You won't see anymore Butt Trumpet but Betty Blowtorch (where most of the band went to) keeps up the pace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Butt Trumpet - The Best and Only!!!, June 10, 2001

When I first heard this CD I was shocked and amazed that people other than rappers can cuss so much! Then I listened (I mean really listened) to the lyrics. They say what no one has ever wanted to say. "I'm Ugly and I Don't Know Why" touches on the very chord of many insecurities that plauge some "Gen-Xers" today. Humor plays a great deal through-out the selections and rightfully so. "Ten Seconds of Heaven" deals with unprotected sex and the consequences of it. I know this is a hard CD to find but if you find that rare instance to find it at your local music store (not a chain like Camelot) pick it up and amaze you're friends by the shear blatent foulness of this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Work of Absurdist Genius, Hands Down!!!!, December 9, 2007

Look, I'm not really into punk. Though punk is the rough classification of "Primitive Enema," that's like saying Picasso did some scribbling. It doesn't matter that on most days I like blues and heavy rock. On the day I heard this album, I had to admit that it is an absolute, hands-down, work of creative genius.

I was visiting my best friend in Northampton MA (yeah, that's where Smith College is.) We were browsing through this used CD store and came upon this album with the ridiculous title, ridiculous group name, and absolutely ridiculous song titles. ("Dead Dogs"? "Funeral Crashing Tonight?") We plopped down the three bucks to get it. I actually had low hopes for it, since I've tried similar stunts in the past-- weird cover artwork and titles usually correlate to music that is CRAP.

Not this time.

The album has become a "secret shared pleasure" between my friend and me. It's like walking down the street and finding a 15 karat diamond ring just sitting in the gutter. Not many people know about Butt Trumpet. And that's a shame.

Can I be any more clear? This album is absolutely freakin' brilliant. Period.

To give you an understanding of this, my friend is a fairly well-known poet (yes, the real kind!), and also happens to be a genius. I myself have two degrees from Harvard. Both of us agree that this album ranks up there with any poetry or music being put out today.

You might be taken aback at first--- the lyrics are--how shall I say it?--- rather "colorful." "Rude" might be a better word. But they are really brilliant. A couple of my personal favorites are "Funeral Crashing Tonight" which takes the idea of "Wedding Crashers" to a whole new level. ("Hefty Hefty Hefty! Wimpy Wimpy Wimpy!") "I've Been So Mad Lately," wherein the sexy lead singer says all the things we want to say when we're mad (though most of us don't have the skill to do it as well as she does! It really has to be heard to be believed!) Finally, there is the eternal classic "Dead Dogs," which is about an unfortunate and baffling situation about having found some dead dogs in your garage. Yeah, that sucks, I agree!

Anyhow, I've only really touched on the surface of what this album is about. Let me just conclude by saying that this album must be heard to be believed. It's really just at a different level--- than the rest of humanity!

i liked most of the tunes from this album but the one I really enjoyed was "girl with a pink gun". It's a song a girl can relate to at the tender age of 14 :). The ladies/women from butt trumpet have moved on to "betty blowtorch". I haven't heard anything from them yet but hopefully they haven't lost that touch.

I loaned my copy of this CD to BoBa Jam from Sloppy Seconds back in 1995 when they ran a record store downtown (Periscope). Bo, if you're reading this, please send this back to me. I really want it back. Seriously.

I listened to this CD with my kids dad and our friends when I was 15. I don't know how many times "Flannel in Seattle" or "Dead Dogs in my Garage" was screamed out of car windows but I have just recently passed the gem of a CD down to my kid. I still have my copy from 15 years ago. Thanks for all the memories!!
