I usually always love Fern Michaels books so I was excited to read this new release! The title certainly intrigued me "Mr and Miss Anonymous." The book starts out okay with Peter Kelly making deposits to the local sperm bank to finance his college education. On his last visit to the infamous sperm bank, he runs into a pretty co-ed Lily Madison who was also on her last donation of her eggs to the donor clinic to pay for HER last semester of her education. They run into each other one last time before they go off to individually achieve fame and fortune but alas, they never forgive themselves for their sperm and egg deposits and never forget their encounter.

Okay, sounds interesting - I think I'll bite and read some more. At this point, the book just meanders into a murder mystery - who murdered twelve teenagers at the group home - does one of the teenagers who escaped look just like Pete - is it a coincidence? Where does the requisite senator maybe running for the executive office fit into this? There's more - we have the teenaged boy who escaped who hears dead people! Oh wait - now we have flamboyant reporter Tessie Dancer getting involved to write the story to win a Pulitzer, an assassin and you won't believe this - the wonderful German Shepherd - will the dog save the day?

I am wondering why Kensington Books didn't take more time to edit this book and work out all the kinks in the storyline before the book was published. The barebone story is okay - this book does not do Fern Michaels justice.

Don't waste your time!

Like the previous reviewer, I usually love her books. However, this was truly one of the worse books I've read. The dialogue was juvenile and seemed to be written for a teenager. Again, I enjoyed her other books, but this one wasn't up to par - at all.

This book was excruciatingly painful to read. It was a horrible waste of time. I can't say I've ever been a fan of Fern Michaels (I think the Sisterhood books are awful and will never read another one!!) but this book was seriously torturous to read. The story is underdeveloped & unrealistic, the dialogue is horrendous and the characters are annoying! I wish I could give it ZERO stars!!!!!

The description of the book is very misleading. It appears to be a love story, however, that is barely expanded in the book. Fern Michaels seemed to have had trouble deciding which type of book she wanted to write so she combined a love story, murder mystery, paternity case, ghost story and FBI story into one. I felt that none of the story lines were developed and pieces were just thrown together. Some characters did not have names and were called "the man", "the boy", and "the soccer player" until half way through the book. Poorly written, poorly descripted and one of the worst books I've ever read.

I gave this book one star simply because the initial premise was interesting. Unfortunately, as many other reviewers here have said, the development of the plot and characters was obvious and unbelievable. I can't think of another book where two main characters become fabulously successful IN JUST A FEW PARAGRAPHS and then manage to spend the rest of the book doing NOTHING about their multi-billion dollar businesses. Come on! Romance may be fantasy but this is just ridiculous. The dialogue is appropriate for junior high school reading and the motivations are practically non-existent. Neither the author nor the editor seemed to pay much attention to the actual unraveling of the key plot point so it was dealt with (again) in a paragraph. It seemed that the author had most of the really important action take place offstage, as it were, and spent lots of time on trivial matters. [pages and pages of dead kids talking, for example]

Please save your time and money by avoiding this book.

Looking for snappy dialogue? A well-crafted plot twist? Engaging characters? Don't look here. Borrowed from the library, otherwise I'd burn it to save others from having to endure this one. The back of the cheerios box is more stimulating reading.

Great premise for a novel, but this was so badly done, it was painful to read. The worst/most artificial dialogue and characters I've come across in a long, long time. I won't read her again anytime soon.

This is not a love story. This is not about sperm-donation babies. This book is about the world's smartest dog, Winston. Nuf' said.

Sometimes,it's nice to just enjoy a story for it's simplistic self and not

along drawn out book with twists and turns that make no sense,just relax and enjoy!!!

Peter and Lily, the two main characters, are supposedly around 40-years old and enjoy nation-wide success with businesses they started. In college, they had a chance encounter in front of a sperm/egg bank where they each donated to fund their last semester. While this is completely realistic, the story then falls off the cliff. For the 15+ years after college, both fixate about how selfish and horrible they were to have donated sperm/eggs, their meeting that totaled 5 minutes, and where their sperm/eggs went. Neither has a serious relationship (or even a fling) after college. Lily's trademark in college and as a 40-year old is a denim & sunflower hat that's not faded or dusty when she pulls it out of the closet.

It's impossible to believe that two people who completely forgot to have a life for 15+ years after college would spend so much time worrying about their donations and their 5-minute meeting. I have to believe that the author wanted to write a book about a Victorian maiden pensively worrying about some trivial issue and then tried to force the plot into modern life. To make matters worse, it sounds like the reader is holding her nose. Given the material, I cannot blame her.
