You play as a nameless mosquito whose job it is to suck the blood of the Yamada family. There are only two modes, battle and suck. To suck blood you have to first hover and wait for a target area to flash red somewhere on your victim's body, then swoop in, pierce the skin, and extract blood by twirling the right analog stick. Suck too fast or too long and you're liable to get swatted, a fate you can avoid if you keep a close eye on your victim's "stress meter." If you're spotted, you must battle your victims by trying to bump their bodies' "relax spots," which makes them chill out and forget you're there (this part doesn't make a whole lot of sense).
The voyeuristic aspects of Mister Mosquito have gotten a lot of attention, especially the infamous scene in which you suck the blood of the Yamadas' teenage daughter as she takes a bath, but the game stops well short of anything that would have earned it an M rating. --David Stoesz

Based on Japanese version.,

This review is from: Mr. Mosquito (Video Game)
Having only played the Japanese version of this I think I lost something in not understanding the dialog but Im told it's rather humorous. It's originality is definitely the best the title has going for it, and while odd makes for a very fun game.Except it's short...real short. I recommend renting it first. There is definitely re-playability but only if your not easily distracted by other games like I am.

Very Original Idea That Quickly Gets Repetitive,

This review is from: Mr. Mosquito (Video Game)
Being a huge fan of games like "Typing of the Dead," "Crazy Taxi, and other out of the ordinary games that Sega was releasing for Dreamcast, (and still does, to a lesser extent it seems) I was interested in Mister Mosquito after I read some reviews in various publications. Finally, I rented it, and was pleased to diescover that it has one of the strangest premices for a videogame in a long time. You play as, (you guessed it) a mosquito who has taken residence in a family of three's home, and has to stay alive by sucking their blood on a regular basis. The risk with sucking thier blood, of course, is that if you irritate them, and they notice you they'll either swat you, immediately killing you, or they'll want to battle you, and th only way to calm them down then is by flying into "relaxation points" on their body. While, for fans of games that offer something new and different, this game quickly gets repetitive, and you may find yourself losing interest. So my advice is to support this kind of game by going out and giving Mister Mosquito a rental. It is the perfect game for a five night rental.

so.. first off the first thing you'll notice about mr. mosquito is its strange sense of humor. after all, this is a japanese game.. the country who brought us katamari damacy! so i like that.
you fly around and have to suck blood from "hot spots" located on various parts of people's bodies. once you get the control scheme down, this is a fairly easy affair, and it's fun. the problem is, as some others have said, mr. mosquito quickly becomes repetitive and loses its quirky, fun appeal. pros: graphics are pretty good for a PS2 game, it's fun to fly your mosquito around (and i don't even like flying games), you can turn off lights and turn on radios and see how the people get up and respond to that confusion.. quite unique idea, especially when you factor in things like the girl in the bathtub trying to shoo you away with her hair dryer. cons: no controls tutorial (have to learn them yourself), quickly loses its unique appeal, cutscenes of the family talking before the level are boring, load times are too long but overall the thing that made me put this game down and stop playing was a level where i couldn't find the "hot spot" on a girl. i kept thinking i saw it on her neck and then i'd get closer to her and it would disappear. maybe i was mistaken and seeing the light switch behind her.. but i have a low tolerance for frustration in games. bottom line: this may or may not be worth a rental for you. gamefly has this game in stock, if you're a member. but i wouldn't spend much money on it.
