I highly recommend this new CD by Eric Roberson. This is a great example of Eric Roberson's true artistry. Thanks for keeping "real music" alive.

Im fortunate enough to have the entire Eric Roberson collection and this is one of my faves. Similiar to the Vault 1.5, I find myself letting this entire cd play without skipping songs. Hard to pick a favorite, as the songs touch on so many different emotions; like the wise, but playful, "Shake Her Hand" or the thought provoking "How Would I Feel". All in all a great work!Soul music at its finest.

I've always been a Eric Roberson fan but this CD tops them all! I play this CD start to finish over and over again! The upbeat songs force you to get up and dance and don't get me started on the slow jams... The music just makes you FEEL good! You can hear the old skool influences, yet this music is new skool hip.
BUY THIS CD! You will not be disappointed. Congratulations Mr. Roberson, you've really grown as an artist and this CD should be at the top of the charts! I'm telling everyone I know..."BUY THIS CD!"

Despite all the 5 star reviews on Amazon I'm gonna go against the grain because "Mister Nice Guy" is a decent listening project but nothing on here is overly captivating to my ears.

Eric Roberson is no doubt a good singer but compared to his first 3 projects "The Esoteric Movement"," The Vault" & "The Appetizer" this project falls way short but I will give him an "A" for originality & creativity but that's not always a good thing but to each is own.

The songs that I'm definitely feeling is "Summertime Anthem" f/ Chubb Rock, "Picture Perfect", "Shake Her Hand", "At The Same Time" & the gospel laced "All For Me"

"Mister Nice Guy", "Strangers", "Love's Withdrawal", "How Would I feel" & "Male Ego" had to grow on me but are nice cuts as well but everything else is just mediocre.
Honestly, The best song on the project is a 90 sec interlude that comes on immediately after "Picture Perfect" called..."Jealous"

Now since I live in the Texas panhandle the Neo-Soul movement like Eric Roberson, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Musiq Soulchild, Anthony David, Raheem DeVaughn, Etc is not heavily flavored here so it could be possible that my ear may not be picking up certain elements musically & lyrically compared to other parts of the region that hears Neo-Soul on a consistent basis.

Good music is good music and I personally feel that my ears DO NOT lie therefore "Mister Nice Guy" Is just okay but nothing mind blowing.

If I could get past listening and replaying "Picture Perfect",then I might have titled this CD 'one of the best of 2011'! I love it when an artist knows their voice; their lyrics that define who they are and what speaks to them; and their sound that describes who they are. Eric stays right there where he can vocally put forth his best.

I also enjoyed reading the descriptions of how each song came about, like a story. I enjoyed reading as much as I did listening, a great combination.

It’s been eight albums. Usually by the eighth album a fan knows all of his or her favorite artist’s tricks, gimmicks, affectations, strengths and weaknesses—fresh surprises are the least expected. So, by this time in an artist’s career, some once devoted fans move on, bored with familiar timbre and techniques that once inspired awe and reverence. Others stick around comforted by the familiarity of their musical family friend, hugged by the anticipated experience of hearing their favorite lick, run and harmonic structure redone for the umpteenth time. So, it is with great relief that a listen to Eric “Erro” Roberson’s eighth full-length project reveals a young veteran who can still pull a rabbit or several out of his proverbial hat. On Mister Nice Guy, Roberson is both old and new again and the combination reveals an album that’s a grower, not a shower in its ability to woo. Surprisingly, from start to finish, it’s his most cohesive since Vault 1.0 and his most artistically eclectic release since his 10-year old independent debut, Esoteric.

Maybe it’s because Erro turned over the production reins to other equally competent producers that this album is whole yet different throughout. These men both understand Roberson’s musical universe and dared to challenge it in ways sage and quietly bold. Some decide to honor who Erro musically has been, while others pushed him to reflect the interior evolution of a man who is now a new husband and father, giving him space to be older without making him old (a trick few R&B males have successfully managed).
