Book Description

April 19, 2004
As the world spirals out of control around him, he is losing his mind. He has grown obsessed with the mounting tensions that predominate the news. Like so many of us, he lives in constant fear. Fear of nuclear annihilation. Fear of bio-chemical warfare. Fear of terrorism. Fear of crime. Fear of the violent predators our society produces. But mostly he lives in fear of himself. Then he meets Walter. Walter is a giant of a man. Walter has never known fear. Others fear Walter. Together Overby and Walter decide to become the most terrible force the world has ever known. This is a story of madness and terror. It is a story of all of us living in the last days of civilization on the edge of the empire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crime and perdition, May 9, 2004
This review is from: Mr. Overby is Falling  (Paperback)
I love crime novels, and this is a great one. Mr. Overby is Falling is in the tradition of the work of Jim Thompson. It is a smart, violent, lurid tale told graphically. It is the story of two crazy killers who team up to terrify a city. It is also about the terrible way the world works.

This book will stay with you a long time after you read it. You will be thinking about Overby and Walter for days. You may even find yourself dreaming about them. If you do, hope that you wake up quickly!

A great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Reading!, May 9, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Mr. Overby is Falling  (Paperback)
Mr. Overby is Falling was is a great book. It's fast paced and exciting, without being trite or dumb. On the surface this is a serial killer tale, about a pair of psychotic monsters who stalk and kill the innocent. Below the surface is a subtext about something completely different. Underneath it's a philosophical story. A bit like the novels and plays of Sartre, it uses story to make a deeper point.

Mr. Overby is falling is well written, and smart. It is very violent, very graphic. Those who are easily offended may be bothered by it. The rest of the world can learn from it.

I recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tyree's Twister, June 23, 2004
This review is from: Mr. Overby is Falling  (Paperback)
This one already shows all the signs of a cult classic just about to take off. At first you're gonna think, Oh no, here comes one last late brat pack lament when WAMMY! Mr. Overby starts to fall - and fallandfallandfallandfall, and you're in for more falling than you could imagine. This little book will have you biting your nails - and just long enough, too, because you feel that if Tyree goes any further you'll start on the fingers too and you're gonna just have to be medicated. Go for it. A brilliant, surreal thrill ride ... not to mention social commentary, satire, uncomfortable questions asked and answered uncomfortably, whadayagot, it's there. I can't imagine where this young author is going to take us next.
