I originally rented this video for my 12-year-old, and decided to watch it with him after he had seen it about six times. It was one of the funniest "muppet" type videos ever! A lot of the humor was pretty sophisticated, which would go over the head of the average 12-year-old. However, my kid was explaining some of the more obscure jokes to me! Mr. Potato Head's friends, Baloney and Ms.Potato Bug are a hoot (I am in love with Ms.Potato Bug. She's French, y'know). And the evil Dr. Fruitcake is a riot, too. It's very well done, and if you like Kermit T. Frog, you will love this video. I only wish they would make a sequel.

My son got this as a gift (he's six) the first time he watched it, I could hear him laughing hysterically. I sat down to watch it with him. It's very very funny, but very very very weird. Ms.Potato bug (who is French) sings songs with lyrics like "I am potato bug, I like spagetti, I like to get hugs from Mario Andretti, I talk to shoes, but never to boots, I am alergic to certain citrus fruits" Mr. Potato Head's friends include a slab of baloney, and a mound of chick giblets. Like I said, very bizarre. I LOVED this, and so does my son. The humor is pretty sophisticated but there is alot of lower level stuff that little kids can get. It is completely non-violent but never saccharin. If your kids like humor that's a bit off-beat, this is the tape for you.

The Mr. Potato Head Show only lasted one season on Fox. The humor is too sophisticated for Saturday mornings, and that inappropriate times slot was partly responsible for its demise.
The humor is intelligent,clever, and multilevel. Viewers 10 and up can find many nuggets to amuse and entertain.
In this video flashback is extensively used so the views can see little snippets of many shows. At the end of the tape is a backstage segment showing the puppeteers and several interviews.
This is a great tape. It's sad the show didn't live longer.
Ironically the movie is about the show being cancelled.Very prophetic.

i saw this show on tv a few years back while puffin on an L with my friend. one of the funniest things i've ever seen. only funny if you're into children shows though :)

I love the show and lament there is only this one VHS, while I watched the show when the kids were very little we often watch it again and again and it's funny every time. If you think the Toy Story spud is funny check out Bologney, Queenie(don't call me Skipper), Potato Bug, Johnny Rotten Apple, Dr. Fruitcake, Ham Monster and the rest.

This tape is just AWFUL. The writing is terrible, the acting is sub-par... it's just a mishmash of too many "special" effects and confusing storylines. Don't bother.
