Not nearly as tender as I'd hoped. Just as chewy and gristly as any other jerky. The flavor is borderline disgusting...just barely edible. Oddly enough, I found that mixing raisins in and eating them as a mix makes the stuff almost palatable. Considering the taste, price, and quantity of product, I would rate the value as being quite poor. I would not recommend this product. For a product being touted as "premium," I was sorely disappointed....probably closer to being a 1.5 star product than a 2 star, truth be known.

Mr Z's beef jerky is moist and chewy, which I love. Unfortunately the flavor is very bland.

I love beef jerky, I have tried many brands and am always looking for something new.

While I would say this product is good, it is more like ok and unimpressive. Not that there is anything wrong with it, there is nothing great about it. While it is good by itself, it does not compare to the big name competion, if you have tried many brands out there especially the big names then this will not impress you. It is a bit tough and dry.

One big con about this item is that it has hydrogenated oil, the contributor to trans fat. Even though the packaging may say 0 grams trans fat, it can still have up to 0.49 grams of trans fat in it as long as the ingredients list states the product has hydrogenated oil.

If you like tough and dry beef jerky and don't care about hydrogenated oils, then this product is for you.

I decided to purchase some beef jerky off Amazon for an upcoming road trip I was taking. Mr. Z's jerky seemed to be the least expensive, so I took a shot and bought it. To my surprise, it was tender, moist, and very tasty! I would definitely buy this product again.

Not USDA approved. Made and packaged in Brazil. Rather bland tasting and not the texture of real jerky. Has a lot of ingredients for just plain jerky.

Received this product earlier than expected. Beef jerky was awesome! Moist and not dry. I would definitely order it again!

The first thing that struck me when I tasted Mr. Z Premium Beef Jerky in the Original Flavor is the texture. While definitely dried, as good jerky is, it wasn't TOO dry. Instead, this has to be the most tender jerky I've ever enjoyed. And believe me, `enjoy' is definitely the operative word here!

The jerky has a great texture - it's not too soft, but it is easy to bite into and tear off, and doesn't crumble all over the place when you do. In addition, the package I received contained pieces that were easy for me to eat without needing to tear them apart. With many other brands of jerky, I find the pieces too large for me to eat a whole piece.

In the category of texture, Mr. Z Premium Beef Jerky is hands down my very favorite beef jerky.

As for the flavor, it is right up there in my top two. Mr. Z Premium Beef Jerky Original Flavor has a fresh flavor that lets the taste of the beef shine through, without overloading it with marinades or spices while it still has a wonderful smoky flavor with a subtle sweetness.

When I first tasted this jerky, I thought it compared to my previous favorite, Oberto's. Before writing this review, however, I bought a bag of Oberto's so I could perform a true taste test.

Next to Mr. Z's, Oberto's is nowhere near as appetizing as I once thought it was. While it has a good flavor, the texture just cannot be compared to Mr. Z's tender jerky.

To compare another jerky, while Jack's Links have a good flavor, their jerky always has a good bit of gristle in it when I've tried it. This is not an issue with the Mr. Z brand. When they say Premium, it is obvious they mean it.

And I have to compare a new one I recently tried - World Kitchens Brown Sugar Flavor. I only recently discovered this brand, and once again, Mr. Z beats them in the category of texture. The brown sugar flavoring, however, was pleasing enough that I would really like to see a similar flavor from Mr. Z Premium Beef Jerky.

On an interesting note, the package states it comes from Brazil, which intrigued me. I had no idea when I ordered it that I would be enjoying imported beef jerky! Apparently, I very much like it... So much so, that I've already ordered some from Amazon.com!

Mr. Z's Premium beef jerky had great flavor. The label advertises that only grass-fed beef is used and that showed in the flavor. Grass fed beef is naturally more flavorful and less fatty than todays corn fed beef. This jerky was also very tender and was easy to eat piece after piece after piece. My only complaint was that each bag had quite a bit of "jerky confetti", tiny pieces put in to make weight I assume.

Our six year old little girl loves Mr Z!! The 1 oz bags are perfect for her school back pack, softball bag and just as an around the house snack. When her friends in the neighborhood find out we have Mr Z they flock to our front door wanting to know if they can have a bag. It is amazing!!!

I was really impressed with the Mr. Z brand. I've tried all of the flavors, and like them all. I suggest you try.
