5.0 out of 5 stars Spark a kid's imagination with Mr. Pudgins, December 8, 1997
This review is from: Mr. Pudgins (Hardcover)
I have been trying to locate this book in bookstores and haven't been successful...Now I know why: it's out of print unfortunately! This was my favorite book as a child, and I would encourage EVERY parent, babysitter, grandparent, uncle, aunt, ect. to locate it and spark a child's imagination with Mr. Pudgins. I am now a college student who will be graduating in two short weeks. As an English major, there are a few books from each stage of my life that stick in my mind. Mr. Pudgins is one of those books. I vividly remember wishing I was one of the children in the book, traveling along with Mr. Pudgins on his wacky adventures, some of which include flying in a bathtub and having a circus with a Dodo bird...you can just imagine how much a child will enjoy reading this book! I hope that perhaps a publisher will read this review and put this great children's book back into print for all to enjoy! Good luck and good reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most magical childrens book ever published!!!, October 15, 1999
This review is from: Mr. Pudgins (Hardcover)
Mr. Pudgins is one of the most magical childrens book ever published. I have been searching for a copy of this out of print book since the birth of my own children believing its magic would turn them into life long readers. Every child should dream of soda pop faucets, a fun loving grandfatherly sitter, and a magical Christmas ornament. Every Christmas reminds me of my own lost copy of Mr. Pudgins.

5.0 out of 5 stars A familiar old friend of a classic children's book, May 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Mr. Pudgins (Hardcover)
As luck would have it, I actually have my copy of Mr. Pudgins. I believe that my mother bought it at a garage sale in the 70's. I remember reading this wonderful book many times over. Now that I have daughters of my own, I've read them Mr. Pudgins, and it is the one book that they listen to with incredible attention. I feel very fortunate, as my copy is only beginning to lose the cover; I will move to get it repaired by tape or some other means immediately.

I had thought that this book was gone, but when my parents divorced a few years ago it was still there at the old house in a box. What a great feeling to find it again.

As for the actual story of Mr. Pudgins, it is a delightful work that all ages of children can enjoy. The text is very easy to read aloud, and there are enough pictures to keep littler ones like my 4 year old interested. Very lively story, and well done.

Please add my name to those wishing a reprint of this book.

THIS BOOK WAS XLENT!!!! I read it at school as a little girl. Now I'm a grownup lady, but part of me is Peter Pan's twin sister, and who couldn't love Mary Poppins in a male version! Marshmallow-eating bears and Root Beer faucets! HURRAY! I recommend it for kids and for the kid in everyone! It's too bad it's Out Of Print! I wish I could give it 10 stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Pudgins, February 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Mr. Pudgins (Hardcover)
I believe this book should be mandatory reading for all children ages 6-100. I loved when my mother read the adventures of Petey, Janey and John with their wonderful babysitter Mr. Pudgins.I wished that I had a babysitter with a magic pipe. The adventures that occurred when Mr. Pudgins lit his pipe were amazing. I loved the mirror-children and to this day refer to reflections as "mir-John" or "mir-Janey". I still get choked up over the last chapter where Mr. Pudgins says goodbye. I am thrilled that I still have my copy, although it is in very sorry shape, and definitly plan to read it to my children. Please, whoever owns the rights to this book, please republish it. I would buy a copy for every child in my family, plus two for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Pudgkins, February 18, 2000
This review is from: Mr. Pudgins (Hardcover)
This book was read to me by my sixth grade teacher and has stuck with me since. In fact, I credited much of my love of books as having stemmed from this book. Sometimes when you are a child, you wish you could do wild and wacky things to take you away from all your childish problems.....this book made it seem like a possibility. I have searched for 25 years for this book and hope and pray that I will find it so that I can read it to my children, even though they are old enough to read it alone. It would be such a thrill to share a book that had such an impact on me with the people I love the most! PLEASE, PLEASE help me find a copy!

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite book., March 11, 1999
This review is from: Mr. Pudgins (Hardcover)
Mr. Pudgins probably saved my life as a child. I read it over and over and virtually lived with Mr. Pudgins and the children. I always wished that I could have a babysitter like Mr. Pudgins, but, of course, it never happened. My favorite memory of the book is the christmas ornament bubbles that he blew with live scenes of all their adventures. Unfortunately, several years ago, when I went to retrieve it from the box it was stored in, it turned out the whole box was missing. I was devistated and have been searching for a copy ever since. I consider it one of the best children's books ever written.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very magical book, December 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mr. Pudgins (Paperback)
This is the most wonderful book written for children. My mother read it to my sister and I many times and when we were old enough we read it ourselves so much the book fell apart. I wish it were in print so everyone could enjoy it. Perhaps they will make it into a movie and then it will be a bestseller!

5.0 out of 5 stars A childhood favorite revisited, February 10, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Mr. Pudgins (Hardcover)
I am reading "Mr. Pudgins" to my children and I love seeing them enthralled by it the same way I was. I wish this book was available to all children. And I wish it was still in print so I could buy a new copy and retire my old one, which is much loved, but unfortunatley, falling apart from age and use.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite childhood book..., April 3, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Mr. Pudgins (Hardcover)
The easiest thing to say about this book is that it has stuck with me all my life. I read it hundreds of times growing up, and I still get sad at the end when Mr. Pudgins says goodbye. My mother cried when she read that part to me. She made sure every child she came into contact with got to read this book-do the same for your children!
