5.0 out of 5 stars Cynthia Rylant, please write more Mr. Putter books!
Love, love, love these books! My children and i read them over and over and always with a smile on our faces. The illustrator gives the characters (people and pets) such fantastic facial expressions. What a great read!

4.0 out of 5 stars I think Mr Putter is going to tie the knot!, February 22, 2008

I love all the Mr Putter and Tabby books. My all time favorites are Mr Putter & Tabby, Mr Putter & Tabby Paint the Porch & Mr Putter & Tabby Pick the Pears. This one is up there but not a favorite. I do recommend it as I think it leaves the reader wondering if Mr Putter & Mrs Teaberry (the lovely, quirky neighbor) are going to get hitched. Read it to find out why and if you agree.

4.0 out of 5 stars night time walk, September 30, 2007
Mr. Putter's tummy is upset. HE ate too many of his neighbor, Mrs. Teaberry's treats. He hand his cat tabby, decide to go for a night time stroll. You will never guess who is out at this time of night as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful series!!! One of my favorites!, June 27, 2011
This review is from: Mr. Putter & Tabby See the Stars (Paperback)
I adore the Mr. Putter and Tabby books! This is the third I've read, and the third I've thought was stellar! :) (the other two were "Clear the Decks" and "Write the Book"). This is a great read aloud, and a great beginner reader book, too.

In this story, Mr. Putter and Tabby visit Mrs. Teaberry and her dog Zeke (Mrs. Teaberry always invites Mr. Putter and Tabby for something to eat - and Mr. Putter and Tabby always go). But, this time, Mr. Putter looses track and ends up eating 21 jelly rolls! So, obviously, as much as he enjoyed them, his tummy didn't. Unable to sleep, Mr. Putter and Tabby decide to take an evening stroll through the neighborhood.

The illustrations are the perfect complement to the wonderful text. Both are sweet and simple and honest. It's easy to have a perfect understanding of the characters and their feelings and thoughts, and everything is conveyed just wonderfully! From the friendship between pet and human, to Mr. Putter and Mrs. Teaberry, even to Tabby and Zeke!

I think this book can stand alone, but after reading one, I WANT to read the rest!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great books!, January 16, 2009

Cynthia Rylant has created two of the most charming old characters in young children's literature! As an educator, I appreciate the crafting of these books: the language is interesting, the vocabulary rich, and the stories have both humor and substance to them. They are not just fluff, and the children who read them know it. My own son loved all of the Mr. Putter and Tabby books, and we now give them as gifts to our young friends. I highly recommend any and all of them (though my favorites are Mr. Putter and Tabby Pour the Tea, and Pick the Pears).
