4.0 out of 5 stars Mr. Rogers, February 10, 2005
This review is from: Mr. Rogers: Young Friend and Neighbor (Childhood of Famous Americans) (Paperback)
MR. ROGERS is a great biography on Mr. Rogers. It tells some very important events though out Fred McFeely Rogers's life. From when he was born March 20, 1928, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania to when he died from cancer on February 27, 2003. When Freddie Rogers was in the hospital as a baby they found out that Freddie had respiratory problems and was sick most of his life. When he was sick he found a hobby of making puppets. He crated many of his friends thought pre-school and high school. Freddie wanted to be many things through out his life some of them included a writer and a preacher. I liked this book because it had a lot of information on Mr. Rogers and his life. Mr. Rogers enjoyed everyone company.

This review is from: Mr. Rogers: Young Friend and Neighbor (Childhood of Famous Americans) (Paperback)
Well researched and written account of the greatest treasure and hero of American children. As far as Mister Rogers was concerned - it was all about the children and he put so much effort and care into producing what those children needed to hear (and still need to hear.) It is incredible that our PBS stations are such morons that they think children need all the cartoon figures and unrealistic programs (kindergarten teachers are not talking dogs, dragons, transforming anythings, or whatever other horrible stuff that passes as programming for young children.) What they really need is to feel good about themselves and hear that gentle voice of reassurance helping them deal with life. Come to think of it - what is what we all need to hear!
