Mr. Smoke,
By
This review is from: Mr. Smoke (Hardcover)
I do a lot of reading. I read a large variety of genres. I am not easily entertained. Mr. Smoke, by Robert Preston Walker, was a delightfully new experience for me.
When I had finished reading it, not only was I highly entertained and stimulated by the story's many twisting and turning plots, it left me totally satisfied yet still craving more. The characters were as real to me as the people I know. They live and breathe in my mind still. Robert weaves a seamless tale with no loose threads. To me, that is quite an accomplishment. A lot of writers that I have read throw in red herrings, that just muddy the waters, for fill. I found no such fill in Mr. Smoke. At times I was confused, but the confusion was always cleared up later. Mr. Smoke made me stop and think. It made me not want to put it down and do other things, like go to sleep or go to work. I re-read Mr. Smoke a couple of weeks after I had read it the first time, just to see if it still held the same magic for me. It was better, because I read some new things that I had missed in my hurry to get to the next Scene. Mr. Walker doesn't have chapters in Mr. Smoke, he has Scenes. I agree with his unique concept. I found Mr. Smoke to be a highly visual book. My suggestion to you is not to lend out your copy of Mr. Smoke. In all probability you won't get it back. I know. I have ordered a new one. Have your friends purchase it for themselves. Spread the word ... Smoke kills. Ask any Terrorist Bomber. Oh, I guess you can't. They're dead, Smoked by Mr. Smoke.

Forget Homeland Security Get MR. Smoke!,
This review is from: Mr. Smoke (Paperback)
Hey, listen you gotta check out this new writer I just discovered! This is his first book and I have a feeling you are going to be hearing a lot about this guy!
The book is MR. SMOKE. Written by Robert Preston Walker out of Indiana, it is a romp through the Friedrich Nietzsche-superman, slash playboy-crime fighter action tale! I guess we all dream of being the new Superman who can save the world from terrorists, while madly texting to our whacked out Super-model girlfriend in Barbados! Well friend, here he is friends, Damon Gray the ENHANCED HUMAN! Damon is a wealthy computer genius with photographic memory who is drawn into supernatural alliance with mysterious forces. He is using his many gifts to eliminate terrorism. I'm telling you there is material here for a dozen books! If you have watched authors create these alternate realities, then you know how explosive this book could be! I can see the Hollywood Execs lining up now for the movie rights. Go out and get this book and be a part of his success story. And who knows, a copy of Robert Preston Walkers very first book could be better than gold when this gifted author gets his movie deal! I can't wait to read the sequel! D.Holman

I read this book just after it first came out. I was looking for a new book to read & I stumbled upon Mr. Smoke . Although I've never heard of the author before, I thought I take a chance on it.
I was completly impressed. Damon Grey is such a well writen, rounded, & multi-dimensional character. From the first chapter on till you get to the end you will not be aqble to put this book down. Within the first chapter I felt almost like a voyuer experiancing this characters life first hand. I don't want to give the story away, You have to read it for yourself. As a advant reader who loves stories with conspiracy theories, this book leaves you at the edge of your seat & wanting more. Mr. Smoke doesn't blow smoke up your rear, Mr. Smoke engulves the fire to your imagination... Trust me when I say you won't be disappointed...

Lynn Owens Lee 5.0 / 5
Bravo Robert Walker! Mr. Smoke was beautifully dark and beautifully written; suspenseful and jam packed with delicious turns from beginning to end. Each character was interesting and suspenseful. It looks like we could have a new hero, who is one minute mysterious and the next, very tantalizing. This book left me wanting more. I hope we will see Mr Smoke and Cat again in the "other world". Mr Smoke is a tribute to Robert Walker's craftsmanship, both satisfying and surprising. Robert, I look forward to your next novel "Gotcha" and hope the plot and characters are as brilliant as in Mr. Smoke. Lynn Owens Lee Louisville, Kentucky |
