Editorial Reviews

In Mistletoe Manor, King Nicholas XX, commonly known as Santa Claus (Oscar ® and Emmy nominee Charles Durning, Hard Time), and his wife Carlotta (Emmy nominee and Golden Globe winner Katherine Helmond, "Who's The Boss?"), aren't feeling particularly jolly. With Christmas only weeks away, the aging king is ready to pass his throne to the Crown Prince, Nick St. Nicholas (Golden Globe and Emmy winner Kelsey Grammer, Animal Farm). But the sexy Santa-to-be is a no-show heir with other priorities - his lavish seaside estate, leggy newswoman Heidi Gardelle (Elaine Hendrix, The Parent Trap), and public relations expert Hector Villarba (Luis Garcia, "American Family"). Heidi and Hector may not know Nick's true identity, but they do know that he is the prince of benefits. Their plan? Use his knockout connections to create an on-line holiday charity. Nick's all for it. Unfortunately, the problems are just beginning. A charge of fraud has turned Nick's charity into a nationwide scandal. What's it going to take to prevent Christmas from becoming a dim memory? Nothing short of a miracle.

Its basically the character Fraiser learning how to be St. Nick. Kelsey Grammer plays the son of Santa Claus living as a wealthy executive who is now expected to take over the role of Santa. Grammer is sadly way too old to be playing the role of a son who has not come to grips with his relationship with his father and is naïve about the world. He just comes across then as unbelievable, immature and goofy especially in light of the fact he's suppose to be a very successful business man. The other characters are equally flat and predictable. Even if you just like little fun Christmas stories this one is a total waste of time.

Here is a movie the whole family will enjoy--well not the kids under 9. You see, Santa (Chas. Durning) too old for the job now--must turn the annual sleigh ride over to his adult son, (Kelsey Grammer) who is too busy partying and suntanning, drinking and flirting with the ladies to bother with Christmas! A devious pair of scoundrels instead propose an on-line Christmas "charity" that sort of takes his "guilt" away--so he throws himself into that. The pretty lady who is partners with the con-man has gotten herself proposed to by trusting Mr. St. Nick!He just "accepts" that the charity is on the up and up, after all, she is a respected TV newswoman!! (Soon to be broadcasting to the inmates in jail, one guesses.Beauty is only skin deep.)
Just in time for Christmas he discovers all the funds have been filtered into the con-artist couples' bank account!! Meanwhile "Mr. St. Nick", as he is known in the opulant place he resides and the beaches he visits, nightlife circuit, etc is falling in love with his maid(unrealized by him!) who,-- being pursued by a Immigration Agent-- finds her time is almost up.Problems, problems...
Will Mr. ST. Nick realize his true calling and do the right thing in time for Christmas--or will Christmas be cancelled? Will Mr. St. Nick be in jail for Christmas? For jolly old, old St. Nick who is too feeble to carry on--the deadline draws way toooo close for comfort.
Old Santa is played so well by Chas. Durning, and his worried wife, Mrs. Santa aka Katherine Helmond-is terrific in this film.
This Hallmark "Made For TV" Christmas "goodie" is all but unknown and it is beyond a delight for families. Sooo much fun, altho the SMALLER kids might not "get it"---I completely enjoyed this movie and I know you will too.

I remember seeing this a few years ago and was delighted to find it on DVD. I'm a fan of Kelsey Grammer and he makes a great Santa! It's a great story of a "playboy" who is heir to the throne of Santa, but doesn't want the job. Then throw in a pair of wacky crooks and a little romance and you have a great Holiday film! Will he want his rightful position as Santa? Watch and find out!

I would like to note that this DVD does not play on all DVD players. I own a Toshiba DVD player and it won't play correctly, however, on my fathers JVC it plays just fine. Go figure. I own other movies from Hallmark and I've never had this problem.

A truly wonderful package of three movie's. Mr. St. Nick, was well done and a lot of fun to watch. Sure it may be a little corny, but that's always part of Christmas movie's. "A song for the season", is a true gem of a movie. It was moving and heartwarming with an outstanding cast. There is true chemistry between Fern (Alison Pill) and Naomi Judd. A tear jerker of the highest order, that's for sure. I guess the only ones it may not affect would be zombies. If that's the case, beware, I know Amazon, sells "zombie hunting licenses. The third movie was "A Bush Christmas", it was also kinda fun. Nicole Kidman, is a young teen whose family is kinda poor but owns a fast horse which they hope will win a local race to help them have a good Christmas. This horse was stolen and there's somewhat of an adventure going after the theves with her young brother, cousin, and ranch hand.

While probably not Oscar-worthy, it is a cute story to watch with the family. We love to watch Christmas movies during the month of December, and I feel this is a good addition to our collection.

This is a family-friendly Christmas movie that boasts all the great qualities of films of a bygone era. One could easily imagine this film in glorious black-and-white featuring Academy Award Winners of the 30's and 40's.

The story of a playboy discovering that he has now become Santa is filled with humor. Of course, there is an evil woman bent on taking the hero away from the true love, and some low-life "grinches" who are determined to ruin Christmas by discrediting our Santa. The only surprise here is that Kelsey Grammer makes a really cute and believable Santa. He makes that beard and suit look GOOD!

This movie answers the question, "What happens to Santa when he gets old?" Apparently every Santa has had a wife and one male child who takes over the business every 100 years. As a kid, my question was, "Our chimney goes to the furnace. How does that work for Santa?" By the time I was 6 mom had a fleet of Santas all with their own helicopter coming through doors.

Kelsey Grammar plays son of Santa who is supposed to take over the job, but he would rather spend his time in Miami going to parties chasing the long legged blond weather girl, who spends the night at his house. We see the two of them the next morning kissing in the kitchen, with blondie wearing his shirt top. Not exactly the "family value" I would want to share with kids.

The immigration officer was very rude and downright anal. Charles Durning made an excellent Santa, and his wife Katherine Helmond turns Mrs. Claus into Jessica from "Soap." There are long dialogue scenes that would bore younger children. I am not sure what age or maturity level would enjoy this film, certainly not mine.
