garbage from alpha to omega,

This is garbage from the start to the finish of this mockery of album. What happened to the u-god on the wu tang albums? all the lyrics are weak, the hooks suck, and the beats are weak also. That is a very dangerous combination. This album is so bad I almost want to recommend that u-god stops rapping. This album displays how weak he is (on the solo tip) and how much he needs the rest of the wu to help him pick a good beat and produce some decent lyrics. U-god should never stray too far away from his clan.

NOT A BAD CD,

I'm not quite sure what some of these other comments are hinting at when they say U-God bombed on this one. First of all if you aren't a fan of the Wu-tang Clan, then I don't know why you would by this. The album is a decent buy for the fans. As a fan myself(of U-God and the Wu) I thoughroughly enjoyed it. Overall about half of the album gets your head bobbin while the other half resides in the waste land of this and that. If you're a fan I recommend it, but if all you do is listen to commercialized Rap then I suggest you go hop on another bandwagon. It's a classic U-God cd in my opinion.

Mr. Xcitement !!! - Is he or isn't he, you decide!,

After the complete meltdown of the Hillside Scramblers LP, U-God came back from what many artist wouldn't even consider doing, and that is putting out a solo joint. Has it paid-off, maybe or maybe not, but for many Wu-Tangers out there, dont be expecting any production work from the RZA, because it doesn't contain the sound that we have all been acustomed to. Despite the lack of familiarity, dont let that put you off, because it is a solid release with some high energy, head bumping beats. U-God in my mind has always been underrated, but on this LP you can see some appreciation for his work on the rather ammusing skit "U-God speaking to Don King". The album also shares some emotions with cuts like "Drugs" and "Jenny". U-God also displays the gangsta rap side of himself on cuts like "Get Down" and with his superficial styles of "Go Get Pretty Like Me" shows U-God has to show a little swagger. May not be U-God's finest work put on display, but it does have enough material to overlook the weaker cuts on this particular LP.

If I want Enter The 36 Chambers, I'll play that instead of hoping it gets remade every year for the last 15 years so I'm one of those fans that want to hear the Wu try new things and go new places on their solo albums and that's what makes this album cool. Best track is "It's A Wrap". U-ey and Letha Face sound killer together. Friend of mine caught his show in Virginia and said he's playing Don't Love The Drugs and Jenny, both real heavy personal tracks, in his set. I remember Heart of Stone from the Trinidad Wright fight (you've gotta hear the Don King skit, hilarious). Overall just a real cool album. Keep doing your thang U-God, we got your back.

Almost 6 years since he released his debut solo album, the quietest member of the Wu lately is back finally. Mr Xcitement is better then his debut. Of the 14 songs on here, 1 is a classic, 1 is a classic, 2 I skip, 2 are ok, and the rest are good or great songs. Guests are only rapping on 3 songs and do the hook on 2 others so you get a lot of U-God here. Production is great for his style and it makes his delivery seem much more on point. Leatha Face & DJ Homicide each do 4 songs, Mike Baiardi does 3, The Produkt does 2 and 4th Disciple does 1 song. After a few shaky moments with fellow Wu-Tang members he patched things up but there is no one affiliated with the Wu on this album and it does not sound anything like a Wu-Tang release. It's nice to hear from a member of the Wu once again, and a must have album for his fans.
#1 - 8 (short, upbeat intro) #2 - 9 (f/ Leatha Face -- tight song with nice upbeat production) #3 - 8 (f/ Leatha Face) #4 - 10 (CLASSIC -- f/ MC Eiht, Boo Kapone, Squeek Ru -- great west coast beat) #6 - 8 #7 - 6 #8 - 9 (tight beat) #9 - 8 #10 - 7.5 (f/ Ebony Burke - about his pops) #11 - 9 (f/ Ebony Burke -- positive song -- nice beat) #12 - 6 (dirty song) #14 - 8.5 (about the evil of drugs) #15 - 7.5 #16 - 9 (an apology to a girl named Jenny -- nice beat) Lamont Hawkins -- New York, NY Check all my reviews

A Wu-Underrated God Still Grimey,

one listen to this I wasn't hooked, a few more I felt the vibe all in all the album blends whell the production gives a rugged dark wu-banga feel from hard bass bangaz to layed back piano loops to rockish feel knockers which fit the god's rugged ruff vocals...
this album is definatley a u-turn away from wu's original sound but even the other members stear away from that bringin' new vibes and sounds.... Pros - U-God uses alot of dope methophors and punchlines(which alot of the other members rarley do anymore), the guess do their thing which the album doesn't have many of & u get alot of U here. plus he covers alot from emotional tracks to bangaz. Cons - alot of the tracks got melody type choruses to give you catchy hooks that sometimes get on ya nerves like rap already. album starts like his 1st with a short melody freestyle at a show - 3/5 the next 2 songs are bangas # 2 with a dope loop with u and leathaface goin back and fort. 4.5/5 # 3 a bit darker and layed back with ill verses. 3.5 4 has a ill ass catchy chorus over a knockin beat definatley a banga, the guess are ight with short verses u-god took it. 3.5 5 is a funny skit n/a 6 is abit different for the god with guitar riffs a smooth background his delivery is abit off at 1st then he catches the flow, the chorus is ill and just hits you. 4/5 7 bangin beat with catchy flow and ill bounce, real rugged - 4.5/ 5 8 song gives a "we will rock you" feel in the chorus kinda rockish but the verses are ill he rides them whell to the beat with ill punchlines here and then 4.5/5 (sounds like an Eminem beat) 9 a smooth type catchy joint, this the feel good type song the kinda joint you bump on the way to go bang a sexy shorty and you feel like the man its abit pimpish the night time joint- 4/5 10 classic storytelling joint the smooth get high to and layed back joint through a journey - 5/5 11 the soulful joint about life, its layed back with nice female vocals in the chorus 5/5 classic 12 a downsouth attepmt joint could've left this out not so lil john tho 2.5/5 13 detication skit to a fiend he made money off of with nice piano playing in the background with a few words of inspiration n/a 14 the calm storyteller with bouncy paino keys u rides it whell it"ll have you swinging your head like stevey wonder, nice story - 4.5/5 the last 2 aren't that good 15 sounds like a rap/ rock song for the clubs 2.5/5, & 16 jenny, has a smooth nice beat but he kicks a melodic sing a long type flow comin' off like cheesy 50cent. 2.5/5 Overall its a desint album which holds up whell with his 1st and has a fare amount of great songs you"ll love & some will have to grow on you - Rating 3.89 not 4

U-GOD CAME SHORT WITH THIS ONE!!,

This album is a disgrace to the Wu-Tang Clan and everything it stands for. U-God proves on this album that he is worthless on a track without the rest of the Wu-Tang. After seeing the video for "Bump" at 3 in the morning, I thought I was dreaming because I could not believe what I was seeing. DO NOT BUY THIS ALBUM AND GO PICK UP FISHSCALE. Some advice for U-God: STEP YOUR RAP GAME UP FOR THE NEXT ALBUM!

I'm not sure what happened to U-God. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I could not recommend this album to anyone. The beats sound like B-quality leftovers. The choruses were frighteningly bad. Moreover the content of the songs was not memorable. Even guest appearances by the likes of MC Eiht didn't help matters. I hope he looks to polish things up a bit on the next go around. The only reason I won't give it 1 star is because it is still the Wu.

Golden Arms Strikes Back,

U-God's second album is very superior than his first. He has finally found his voice and also great beats to go with it. He has made a great gangsta album. The guests don't outshine him at all and he goes off on his own with this one, with no Wu members, which is a good thing for a solo artist to do and i'm glad he made that risk. Favorites include It's A Wrap, Get Down, I'm Talkin' To You, You Don't Want To Dance, Go Get Pretty Like Me, A Long Time Ago, Stop (Carry On), Don't Love The Drugs, and Jenny. Wu-Tang Forever!!! Highly Highly Recommended.
