I have never been great with a rolling pin. I always roll out pastry too thick or too thin, it sticks or cracks, and flour gets everywhere. But one day I saw this product reviewed in Cook's Illustrated and it was inexpensive, so I decided to give it a try.

Basically, you make your pie dough...whatever recipe you like..., form it into a round disk, and let it rest and chill in the fridge. When ready, open up the pie bag, add some flour to both internal surfaces, place the dough in the center of the bag, and zip it up.

Then you just roll. The bag's shape makes rolling out the crust in a perfect circle easy and it holds all the flour, so you're not messing up the counters. When done, unzip, invert your pie plate or tart pan over the dough, and flip. You can now peel away the bag and proceed.

I actually don't bother cleaning them very well. Unless there is stuck on dough, I just zip them back up when done. The remaining dry flour will help the next patch of pie dough you make.

I cannot tell you how many pies I have made with this handy bag. Easily and quickly rollout a crust then unzip and fold the crust into the pie pin without breaking a sweat. Saved my skin when I had to make 16 pies in one day. Now I won't try to roll a crust without it.

One of the best items I have every purchased! Not only does crust trun out exactly the right size, does not stick, but your roll out area is free of flour. Very easy clean up. Just love mine.

My dear aunt gave me one of these years ago after going to her house and noticing she had used hers to make one of her wonderful pies. She gave it to me right then and there and I used it until there was nothing left to it. I am terrible when it comes to rolling out dough. If I want a circle, I get a rectangle, and vice versa. This is a no-fail way to not only roll out that perfect circle, but get it easily into the pan. The dough never sticks to the plastic type fabric, and you unzip the bag, invert it onto the pie plate and remove the other half. Making it easy to get that crust centered directly onto the plate is such a big help. It washes nicely in mild dish soap, dries quickly ready for the next job. The nicest part about this is that it is not one of those gadgets that takes up alot of space! fold and into the drawer. I've tried finding these and no one knows what I'm talking about. Thanks Amazon, for coming to my rescue.

I've messed up more than my share of pie crusts and made a fine mess along the way. I can roll them fine enough, but, the work surface flour seems to make it to the kitchen floor and the tricky transfer from the wax paper or plastic wrapped dough from the work surface to pie pan is always a clumsy affair for me. This flexible but firm plastic zippered bag contains the powdery mess and keeps me honest in shaping a circular crust. The transfers to the pie pan are much simpler due to the study plastic non-stick surface. One of the best tools for a dedicated cook and would-be piemaker that has come along in a long time. Even my 'no frills' Grandma would appreciate it and it's a bargain to boot. A great gift to any would-be or professional piemaker. I saw it first on America's Test Kitchen website. Check out their equipment reviews for great recipes and further insights on kitchen equipment.

I always wanted to make those luscious, photogenic pies that you see in cookbooks but I'm a klutz when it comes to rolling out those perfect circles. This idiot-proof device changed all that and I'm a happy woman. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and yield perfect results. Think of it as training wheels for the pastry-challenged.

I am awful when it comes to using the rolling pin to make a circle. I make tons of pie from scratch and groan about it every time. This year I even groaned myself all the way to the store and bought premade crusts and they are not as tasty as my usual recipe [...] So when I saw these advertised on a website I had to have them. Originally I was going to get the 14" and the 11" but the 11" wasn't Amazon Prime so I went with ordering 2 of the 14". Boy was I glad since my 9" deep dish (typical size I bake) fits this perfectly.
As for having to hand wash this it's not like I don't have anything else to wash after baking so I toss it in the dishwater after I am done. I'll take washing this over all the dough and flour that gets in the cracks on my table or all over my counter and floors any day!

This is the best gift you can give yourself if you like baking your own pies. This makes a perfectly round crust every time. The dough doesn't stick to the rolling pin, and the countertop stays clean. I will never make pies without this little dandy again. Cleaning is so easy. I just toss mine unzipped in the washer with a load of towels. The towels scrub it clean!
