This review is from: Mrs. Bridges' Story (Upstairs Downstairs) (Paperback)
Here is another view of "UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS" that is both poignant and insightful.
This is a very touching story, told by Mrs. Bridges (the cook for the Bellamy family) in 1913, of her life, which began in North London, where her parents owned a modest sweetshop, to a boarding house in Bayswater (where she first had the opportunity to perfect her budding culinary skills), to her position as Chief Cook at 165 Eaton Place. I highly recommend this book to all "UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS" fans. |
