Kalli Dakos writes child friendly poetry...,
By Teresa M Flores (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mrs. Cole on an Onion Roll (Aladdin Picture Books) (Paperback)
If you are an elementary school teacher or a lover of children, do whatever you must to obtain some of the remarkable poetry by Kalli Dakos. Miss Cole on an Onion Roll is a collection of some of the funniest and inventive school-based poetry I have ever read. In my third grade classroom I presented a number of the poems from this book and the children squealed with delight as a read the clever rhymes and they could not wait to pick up the book to read during independent reading time. Now, my children beg me to take Miss Cole... of the shelf to read again and again! As parents and educators, we only have a brief wiindow of time to introduce our children to poetry and to provide them with the rich literary experiences that poetry can provide. Miss Cole on an Onion Roll, as well as Dakos' other books are fine examples of great poetry and pure reading enjoyment.
