This review is from: Mrs. Dumpty (Felix Pollak Prize in Poetry) (Paperback)
This book of poems by Chana Bloch (Hah-nuh Block) is an excellent insight into the mind of a woman whose husband slowly contracted mental disease. The poems all center around this topic--being the wife a mentally ill man and the impact in had on her emotional well-being. The majority of the poems are stories told from her marriage and fall in chronological order. Ms. Bloch is a master of metaphor and it is fun to try and interpret what she was thinking and picturing in her mind as she wrote these poems. The only downer is that there are only about 60 pages of material, but definitely one to check out. |
