I had read a number of the Mrs. Jeffries books because I love the characthers and the roles each play. this specific book is the first in the series. It isn't vital to read it first but it is illuminating on how mystery solving came together the first time.

If you are a fan of the Miss Marple books then Emily Brightwell's Mrs. Jeffries Series may be just the thing for you. With a wacky cast of regular characters and suspects and a very Victorian proper relationship between Mrs. Jeffries and her Inspector at the core, these swift reading books are a wonderful way to spend a snowy afternoon, a rainy day or a summer vacation at the shore. This collection of the first three books in the series packaged in one volume serves as a terrific introduction.
