5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful book with great illustrations!
Although this book is supposedly for the 4 and up set, my 2 year old absolutely loves it! The rhyming text realy holds her attention and makes her giggle, and the illustrations are really great. We checked this book out of the library on a whim, and now it's one of our favorites. Mrs. McNosh hangs all kinds of crazy things on her clothesline, including sleepy bats, the...

2.0 out of 5 stars Who is Mrs. Mc Nosh?
At the end of this past school year I found Mrs. McNosh hangs up her wash in my six-year old son's backpack. I guessed that the teacher ordered extra books or was just cleaning out the room since she will be teaching another grade come this fall.

Whatever the reason we read the book two times and I discovered it the other day under my son's bed ripped in the...

Although this book is supposedly for the 4 and up set, my 2 year old absolutely loves it! The rhyming text realy holds her attention and makes her giggle, and the illustrations are really great. We checked this book out of the library on a whim, and now it's one of our favorites. Mrs. McNosh hangs all kinds of crazy things on her clothesline, including sleepy bats, the turkey she's roasting that night, and Grandpa McNosh's removable teeth. She gets a wrong number and hangs up the phone(on the clothesline that is), and when she's all done, she hangs herself up in a comfy chair for a nap. A truly whimsical book that your little ones will enjoy, and you will love to read to them again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars An easy read-along story that makes you laugh, September 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash (Harper growing tree) (Hardcover)
Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash is my 3 year old daughter's favorite book. She knows the ending of each rhyme before I get to it. From "Each morning at dawn" until "she hangs herself up in a comfortable chair", Mrs. Nellie McNosh captivates and tickles you with her wash.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Colorful Silly Book Kids Will Love to Read, December 22, 1999
By
This review is from: Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash (Harper growing tree) (Hardcover)
This colorfully illustrated book is full of silly rhymes. Mrs. McNosh begins by doing the laundry, but becomes increasingly silly as she hangs more than just shirts and socks up on the line to dry. Soon ironing boards and the turkey dinner are drying in the breeze. The silly story will keep children giggling all the way through. The only drawback - - I didn't care for their choice of typeface, but that's just the designer in me talking!

This review is from: Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash (Harper growing tree) (Hardcover)
This book is great for preschoolers (and myself) thru 2nd graders. If you like a funny rhymming story, this is the book! The verses in this book are surprisingly lighthearted and funny; perfect for read-alouds! Mrs. McNosh does her wash and HANGS EVERY VERSE ON THE CLOTHESLINE THROUGHOUT THE STORY! Paired with Ms. Wescott bubbly drawings, you'll laugh while you read and laugh after you've read, then laugh some more before you reread!

When my son's teacher told me how much he enjoyed this book, I decided to buy it and haven't regretted it. It is filled with rhyming sentences and silly situations, and my kids love to see and read about the funny things Mrs. McNosh does on her laundry day.

Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash is simply fun reading! My children (ages 3 and 4) were captivated by the pictures and loved how the words in the story rhymed. Read Mrs. McNosh and find out what she will hang up next!

4.0 out of 5 stars Mrs McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash by Sarah Weeks, November 6, 2004
A Kid's Review
It is a silly happy Monday at the McNosh house, when Mrs. McNosh washes and hangs up the mail and a kite and the phone with the regular laundry. The story rhymnes and moves along briskly. The story goes through all of the possible things a woman could wash and hang up on a clothes line, until at the end she washes herself and her favorite char, and then hangs them up too. It appears to be a pen and in illustrations painted with acrylics, although it could be gauche. The illustrations are simple, but with enough detail to be interesting. The illustrations have a lot of motion and sadeways movement, making for rhoughts of the wind holding up the wash. It would stimulate the imagination and make a child of three to six laugh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless fun, April 1, 2010
I've had to purchase numerous classroom copies of this book. Kids LOVE it. A favorite activity for kids is making up rhymes for their own silly clotheslines. Funny, funny, funny.

Great illustrations and funny rhymes have made this one of our favorite books - and we read a LOT of books. If you liked this, also try Mrs. McNosh and the Great Big Squash!
