3.0 out of 5 stars Okay
its not necessarily a book, just folds into one and is really a long cardboard piece of baby faces on one side then flip over for faces on the other. one side is all crying babies and the other side is smiling babies -no other expressions and not very exciting, engaging or cute. baby did look at it a couple of times but i think he would have enjoyed one of the soft fold...

For about 5 dollars, this book is worth every penny, and makes a great inexpensive gift for a first birthday, or first Christmas. My son loved this book, and actually learned the words "happy" and "sad" from it. It's accordian style, but we read it like a regular book, turning the pages and saying "happy" or "sad" (with feeling!) depending on the baby's expression. Since it's accordian-style, it keeps turning itself over and you can turn the pages endlessly....(sorta hard to explain, but if you get it, you'll see what I mean.)

At 3 1/2, my son still loves this book, now that we are "reading" it to his baby sister. Pure and simple fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent picture book for infants and toddlers., August 22, 1998
By A Customer
This accordian-style book and it's hilarious photos of happy babies on one side and crying babies on the other, is wonderful for infants and toddlers alike. I bought this for my daughter when she was nine months old and she instantly responded to the other little people on the pages by smiling, laughing and giving them kisses. Now 15 months old, she is still taken with this book and can "read" it to herself because there are no words (a welcome relief after reading "Goodnight Moon" 1,000 times). A great shower gift worthy of laughs from both parents and kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mrs. Mustard's Baby Faces, April 29, 2000
By A Customer
At 9 months of age, my grandson definitely had opinions about his favorite books and this was certainly at or near the top of the list. If you picked up a book he didn't like, he would bat at it and look in the direction of other nearby books. When "Baby Faces" was selected, he would sit calmly as long as it was being read to him and even "talk" to the babies. We have several precious picture of him sitting on the floor with the book folded accordion style and "playing" with the book, trying to "turn" the pages and "talking" to the babies pictured. The book went everywhere with him and somewhere, we lost it. So we are now ordering a 2nd copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable Book, November 29, 2008
This review is from: Mrs. Mustard's Baby Faces (Board book)
My 19 month old son adores this book. We "read" it constantly and he guesses if the face is "sad baby" or "happy baby." We also play a game where he mimics the faces. It's hilarious! This is a great book, and I think that most infants and young toddlers would enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mrs. Mustard's Baby Faces, March 17, 2002

I bought this when my son was first born and I would "read" it to him. He really enjoyed looking at all the babies. When he was older, about 8-9 months, he started picking it up himself. He could easily flip through the pictures because of it's accordion format and he loved going over and over each picture (especially the happy faces). This became THE book that always went with us in the diaper bag, on a car trip, and in the grocery cart. At 16 months he is still enjoying it!

I was skeptical about a book of baby faces but decided to take a chance especially given the low price. My 2 ½ month old was a little cranky when I was unwrapping the shrink wrap but as soon as I held it in front of her, she was all smiles and laughing. She absolutely loves it. It holds her attention. I can tell that not only the faces interest her but also the colors and patterns around the faces. The book is like a cardboard fan so I can prop it up in front of her to keep her occupied and it really does hold her interest for a significant period of time. Propping it up in front of her also encourages her to lift up her head during tummy time so she can see it. For more interaction, I sit with her and make up stories about the babies. A fantastic purchase!

This was my son's favorite book. Starting around 4 months, when he was cranky, looking at this book usually stopped his crying. Plus, the pictures are pretty funny, even for adults. The accordian book feature is nice because you can spread it out on the floor for tummy time. This one has become my standard baby gift, as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Yet AMAZING, August 15, 2009

I ordered these when my daughter was about 5 months and thought it seemed soooo cheap for the price - but I've changed my mind because my daughter has played with this STEADY for 6 MONTHS! At 5 months she enjoyed the bright colors, next she liked the baby faces, then she liked to stretch it out - at first I thought the accordian style idea was a little off but she LOVES it - it's easier for her to spread out, fold a bit and carry around. It almost opens / shuts on it's own which is nice while they're trying to learn. She loves the different faces and LAUGHS and LAUGHS when my gives them each kisses. I would recommend this to anyone - my daughter has actually worn it OUT - it's now in two pieces and she STILL enjoys it.

The BEST book ever to help babies stop crying! They empathize with the sad babies and seem so relieved when the babies are HAPPY!

This is a fun book of faces that I put on the perimeter of my 6 month old's play area before she started crawling. Trying to reach it was a big incentive to get her moving! It's also a great distracter during fussy moments. All in all, a nice addition to the arsenal of baby goods.
