Stay away from this lefse!,

This review is from: Mrs Olson's Lefse (9.6 ounce) (Misc.)
This stuff is horrid! I would give it minus 5 stars if I could. It doesn't even taste like lefse so I'm surprised it has been around for so long. My mom warned me not to get it, but I was craving it so bad and didn't have any homemade in my freezer. What a mistake, I should have trusted my mom. Please don't buy this, you will just end up throwing it away. It is well worth the time to make your own. Your taste buds will thank you.

Leave The Lefse Alone,

My son purchased this product for me with his Amazon Prime, which allowed him super quick shipping. It came today, nice and fresh. It is horrible. It is made with dried potatoes instead of fresh, vegetable shortening instead of butter and sorbic acid as a preservative. I took a bite and spit it out right away. If you've ever had the real deal, homemade, this is NOT it. I told my son to contact Amazon and get his money back.
No matter how bad a cook you are, you could not mess up a recipe of this, so I suggest you go out and purchase a cookbook with a recipe for lefse in it. Oh god, this is awful!

Mrs Olson's Lefse is an excellent product. Lefse is a traditional food item in my family, but as times become more hectic, it is an items that gets more and more difficult to make at home. This product is excellent. As close to homemade as I have found. The company shipped it fast and fresh. I do recommend this product to all who have and/or have not tried lefse. It is just darn good eat'n!

I pick it up in the grocery store every once in a while (living in Minneapolis, its part of the culture). While its not the same as my sister-in-laws, I think its unfair to compare it to home-made which of course will be much better. Lefse is not like tortillas or pita bread which can taste like cardboard, it has a nice potato and cream flavor to it and is great for sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly, or traditional with butter and cinamon sugar. I usually have it with cheese and fruit. |
