Entertaining but no great literary feat,
This review is from: Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Mass Market Paperback)
I chose this in an airport bookstore to entertain me while I waited because it seemed short and entertaining. The book did not fail in its intended purpose. It was entertaining the entire time and I finished it just after my plane touched the ground. It reads like a movie; short, action packed, and full of convenient plot twists to aid the protagonists. The writing is plain but because of the action it does not become tedious. The author does a good job of simplifying fight scenes that were written for the movies so that the reader can easily picture what is going on.
The characters are cliches and lack depth even though the author tries to make you indentify with them through a first person narrative. It feels like the author simply took a screen play and knocked out a book over the weekend. It was an entertaining book and made me want to see the movie, but it definitely didn't deserve the $15 price tag I paid at the airport.

Great action-packed novel!,
This review is from: Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Mass Market Paperback)
I enjoyed reading this book more than other books I have read. It was very similar to the movie, which in a way was a good thing. I like how they added lots of comedy twists with the story. The only thing that stopped me from giving this 5 stars is how it was written. I don't like how they broke the chapters up into who was telling the story. It would have been a lot easier to read if the story was told in just one point of view. I would recommend anyone to read this book.

Bang! Bang! Mr. & Mrs. Smith Hits the Target!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Mr. & Mrs. Smith (Mass Market Paperback)
This was a great action packed book. It moved quickly and was very exciting. I enjoyed it very much. I saw the movie afterwards and it was a huuuuuuuuge disapointment. My advice: read the book, don't see the movie!!

TOTALLY CAPTIVATING,
By Charli "Creative-Bri" (Norfolk, VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mr. and Mrs. Smith (Paperback)
Believe me once you pick the book up, you can't possible put it down. It took me only 1 day and a half to finish this hard-hitting book. It makes you want to see the movie just to see if the events from the book are in there.
For those who know absolutely nothing about this book or plot, let me fill you a little bit. Mr. and Mrs. Smith are world-class, head-strong deadly assassins, and in the midst of them meeting each other and getting married, they keep this secret totally hidden. Well, until now. You see they were sent after the same target and in the mix of it all, they start to attack each other. SO pretty much, they find out that the person that tried to kill them was there lover and the whole novel is them pretty much trying to settle the dispute. I hope this was helpful, and happy reading --REMEMBER THE MOVIE COMES OUT JUNE 10, 2005!

Quick read but fun!,
By Elizabeth Hadley (Fredericksburg, VA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mr. and Mrs. Smith (Paperback)
I read this book in two hours. It was engaging and fun, if unbelievable. The premise was far-fetched. Still, it provided many chuckles. I enjoyed the book and liked Jane in particular. It's an extreme extrapolation of the reality in most marriages when all the secrets are forced on the table. Pick this one for a rainy afternoon when you can hang out in the recliner, free to read it from beginning to end. Don't expect depth. It's not there. It's just a fluff read.
I gave it only four stars because the book's physical lay-out was a bit on the annoying side, approaching "cutesy".
