There are some soundtracks on the world, which must be bought by all film-music lovers. Mrs.Winterbourne is an example for such a soundtrack.I am a PATRICK DOYLE-FAN and I think this is one of the most beatiful cds of Doyle. When you beginn listening to this cd you will feel like you are flying above the clouds. The music has such power and direct access to the emotions. You can't sit on your chair while listening this music, you will dance, dance and dance...You can see Patrick Doyle's beatiful orchestra style in this cd,which he used before in DEAD AGAIN, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, CARLITO'S WAY or others. He always use different orchestra styles eachother. For example in "Opening Titles(Connie's Story)and "Train to Boston" the score has a large orchestral force and is exciting ,but in "You're a Winterbourne" and "Where's my Baby" the score is very dramatic and has a smaller orchestral force. The score binds together all the elements of the film;the rags-to-riches comedy. the romance, the mystery and the underlying search for love, trust, family and home. Patrick Doyle is very successful on binding all of these. Doyle worked on piano with famous pianist Randy Kerber and on violin solo he worked with Bruce Dukov. Dukov's style in "Connie's Song" is marvellous he plays the piece with a very dramatic sense. The score isn't formed only of classical orchestra music. There are some very enjoyable JAZZ sounds in cd. Particularly you can realize it in "Connie and Steve's Life" and "It's De Different". I understood while listening MRS.WINTERBOURNE that Patrick Doyle's jazz style is very very super like his style in classical music. Finally I must say ; When you're a DOYLE FAN you really must buy it when you aren't a DOYLE FAN you will be a fan of him after listening this cd and you will want to buy his other cds. I am sure of this. OK, what can I say more? Lets buy this cd immediately!

Great uplifting listening,
By Duke Gaines "dg's YOU MUST ADAPT" (Washington, D.C.) - See all my reviews

Patrick Doyle has written a lovely score for the film "Mrs. Winterbourne" and though the tracts are relatively short in length, they are strung together with little break to form a stream of lovely orchestral and jazz numbers that are superb for easy listening while also evoking the images from this sweet film. Doyle has two main motifs, "Connie's Story" and "Connie's Song" which are inverted, varied, and intertwined throughout the entire soundtrack. After a while, these two themes become indelibly imprinted on the brain! This is a particularly fine CD for listening in the car. It's good "travel" music- very backgroundish and provides uplifting mood.
This is definitely Doyle's lighter fare. For really mindblowing soundtracks by Patrick Doyle try Henry V: Original Soundtrack Recording (1989 Film) or Much Ado About Nothing: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Doyle's music is very lush, sweeping and romantic, always conveying the plot along while being excellent pure music on it's own.

Hoped there would be a complete sound track but I know of 2 songs that were missing. One-when Connie was running away and 2nd-at the end during credits. WHY are they not included? Wish they were It would have been a 5 star then.

I purchased this cd thinking it was the songs from the movie. Unfortunately it was the musical score, none of which I recognised. I was disappointed. Maybe the wording could have been more specific and enlightening.

An overlooked pleasure,

This seems to be one of Patrick Doyle's most overlooked scores. Contrary to what some might assume, this is not a typical "comedy score" of his but is a romantic/dramatic score, with a very pretty main theme that gets both the full orchestral treatment and a lovely violin solo ("Connie's Song"). The big band/jazz romantic cues are also better than average. Upbeat and energetic, but has surprising depth -- where most other composers would have just phoned it in.
