4.0 out of 5 stars Great Arcade Classics in a Great Controller
Includes Pole Position, Xevious, Rally X, Bosconian, Galaga, and Mappy. Plus, naturally, Ms Pac Man.

This is a MUCH better rendition than the other MS Pacman stick with the twitchy controller. Left and right movement doesn't seem to be that much of an issue now. The really great thing is it saves your high scores and name, and you can erase them all later...

2.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating to say the least
Don't buy this price increased version. I doesn't work any better than the $19.95 model. Plus it uses twice the amount of batteries. The concept is great, the graphics are great and that's the end of it. This just like the first plug and play Ms Pacman (which I also bought) and has a joy stick issue. If the manufacturer would take off the games that need the twisting...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Arcade Classics in a Great Controller, June 14, 2005

This review is from: Ms Pacman 7-in-1 Wireless TV Game (Video Game)
Includes Pole Position, Xevious, Rally X, Bosconian, Galaga, and Mappy. Plus, naturally, Ms Pac Man.

This is a MUCH better rendition than the other MS Pacman stick with the twitchy controller. Left and right movement doesn't seem to be that much of an issue now. The really great thing is it saves your high scores and name, and you can erase them all later if you wish to clear the memory.

Almost all the games are tweaked better than the other joystick version and just look, sound, and play a little better. The control for Pole Position is done by twisting the knob like a steering wheel. The variable adjustment made for accurate game play. Bosconian has some vocals not included in the other version.

The wireless feature is cool and doesn't seem to cause response lag. Though, you want to make sure you stay within line-of-sight while playing. Joystick layout is much more arcade-like and the simulated wood grain is a nice nostalgic touch.

The problem with these games is they still are not 100% accurate arcade translations. Part of the problem is TV screens aren't as sharp as arcade monitors, nor have the same Aspect Ratio. Many arcade monitors are conventional tubes turned on the side. It comes close enough to keep you in practice and enjoy the golden era of arcade games.

Well worth the extra money and batteries. Forget the other MS Pac Man joystick. In short, not perfect, just better.

The concept is great, the graphics are great and that's the end of it. This just like the first plug and play Ms Pacman (which I also bought) and has a joy stick issue. If the manufacturer would take off the games that need the twisting action of the joy stick maybe this would actually be fun to play instead of frustrating. While playing Ms Pacman which is the ONLY reason I bought these plug and plays Ms Pacman has a mind of her own, turns corners on her own and runs into the ghosts on her own. It's impossible to use the joy stick without twisting it during play and then you're out of control. It's extremely frustrating. For as popular as Pacman and Ms Pacman were in their day and still are these plug and plays would sell on that merit alone so take off the games needing the turning action of the joystick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great arcade games and improvement over the first Ms. Pac-Man Plug-N-Play, December 26, 2005

This joystick system is much better than the first 5-in-1 Ms. Pac-Man joystick system for two reasons: 1) The control is much better and 2) it saves your high scores.

Ms. Pac-Man almost identical to the arcade version, is is more challenging than many of the "late-model" Ms. Pac-Man's with a super-fast Ms. Pac-Man and slower ghosts. The previous 5-in-1 model of this joystick had serious control problems, and it was at times almost impossible to play Ms. Pac-Man because of the controller. Namco has improved the joystick's responsiveness so that it does what you tell it to. Although I still noticed some problem with it turning DOWN unexpectedly, it's a vast improvement.

Galaga is fantasic and is easier to play on the new base. Also, Namco added memory to the game so that it will save your high scores for posterity, which was one of the drawbacks of the 5-in-1 system.

As for the other games: Pole Position plays just like the original arcade game but is not as fun as other, newer racing games; Xevious is fun for five minutes but that's about it; and Bosconian and Mappy aren't worth playing (does anyone even remember these in the arcade?). If this joystick had Dig-Dug (as the Pac-Man controller does) it would be perfect.

This is a great game for anyone who grew up a fan of these games, and it's also great for younger kids who can appreciate the simplicity and ease-of-control of the "classics." My 5 year-old nephew loves this as well.

Ms. Pac Man was always my game back in the day. She just seemed less clunky than her male predecessor.

I just received this game in the mail today and after a mad scramble for eight (count 'em EIGHT) AA batteries I got down to business. I admit that I bought this game for Ms. Pac Man, exclusively. Here's what I found, in a nutshell:

Pros:

1) Graphics & sound are faithful to the old arcade game with the minor exception of the placement of the score, lives and fruit. No problem.

2) Old skool joystick. Nice touch.

3) Plug 'n play set-up. No brainer.

Cons:

1) I honestly don't mind cords one bit. The eight batteries can be a bit of a logistical problem as I don't usually have a dozen-or-so batteries lying around at any given time.

2) My main gripe is that the joystick is frustratingly unresponsive and has the habit of moving Ms. Pac in directions I don't want her to go. I understand, however, that the previous version of this game was worse in this regard and has been slightly improved in this version. Fair 'nuff.

All-in-all a neat little contraption that is every bit as addictive as it was in my youth.

2.0 out of 5 stars Almost, but not quite., May 21, 2008

While this may appear at first to be an almost identical Ms. Pacman to the original arcade classic, it unfortunately is not. If you are a novice Packer or you just want some Ms. Paction this fills the need, but if you want true Ms. Pacman, you've got to go find a real machine. First, the pros: graphics are good, speed and styles are classic, the controller is excellent. Here's where it falls apart. First, the speed when the ghosts are blue is off, they don't slow appropriately. COmbined with this version's small sprite recognition means that you need to be right on top of a ghost to eat it, it's much more difficult to snack up points. Further, Ms. P doesnt slow down when you're chomping dots, this is disappointing since that was one of the main features that really differentiated our lovely lady from her male counterpart. Finally and perhaps most unfortunate is that the ghosts follow different patterns from the traditional game. This makes grouping nearly impossible by conventional methods and requires a new learn to the game. It's fun, but it's not true Ms. Pacman.

As for the other games included, I can't say so much, but Pole Position works well with the joystick twist steering, and Galaga is about as much fun as ever.

It's worth a few bucks, but I'd rather pump those quarters into some real Ms. Pac.

A Kid's Review
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Ms Pacman 7-in-1 Wireless TV Game (Video Game)
I have played both the wired and the wireless Ms. Pac-Man games, and I like the wireless game better. I could get at least 9 feet away from the TV and it would still be fine, whereas I could only get about 5 feet away with the wired version. Some games were more fun and had better sound on the wireless than the wired versions. However, two games, Rally-X and Bosconian (especially Rally-X), were extremely hard to control. The rest of the games were mostly better than the wired versions and sometimes had better sound. Basically, I like it more than the wired kind because, with the exception of Bosconian and Rally-X, all the games were better (especially Mappy). The saving high scores feature is cool, but is only on the wireless version and not on the wired version. The wireless joystick is a little harder to control because it has a short joystick, so it might be nice if it were a little longer.

P.S. My mother made me write this for a homeschool assignment!

I saw this and I thought it was really cool, but then i got it (for a ripp off price of $30)out of the package, after about 20 minutes of taking the tape off, Then I hooked it up.But then, I played it, it is the same thing as the Blue Mrs. Pacman one, only wireless,1.This is way to bulky, the second thing wrong with it was that if you got more than 3 feet away from it, it wouldn't respond that good. The third thing wrong was that the sound is so faint on this, that i had to turn the TV on full blast to hear the tiniest sound. So I returned it and got the non-wireless Pac-Man game, and I like it alot better. The only thing good about this product is that it saves your score.

It's actually more ideal for people who grew up with Ms. Pacman than it is for new-timers, but everyone can appreciate how easy it is to take with you!

I was definitely addicted to Ms. Pac Man many years ago when I would go to the corner arcade.

I bought this game for Ms. Pac Man. I liked the Plug-n-Play on the big screen vs the computer.

- Graphics & sound remind me of the game I played many years ago.
- Like the joystick. Although, it can be frustrating when the movement is not going where you are directing it. I have to say that I remember that old arcade game doing the same thing, though.
- Easy set up.
