An interesting and new view of Camelot....,
By
This review is from: Ms. Pendragon (Mass Market Paperback)
Gwen knows she has a serious problem when she finds the undead thing calling itself Mordred hiding in her refrigerator. Soon, she finds herself swept back to a time of magic when Camelot still peacefully exists. King Arthur, Lancelot, Merlin, and the Knights of the Round Table are all there, waiting to see what fate they'll have this time around. What choices will Gwen, aka MS. PENDRAGON, make when she gets a second chance?
MS. PENDRAGON is a splendid blend of romance, fantasy, and magic. Camelot is once again revived, but this time as viewed through the eyes of modern day lawyer, Gwen. Gwen doesn't remember her life as Guinevere, nor do most of the Knights know of the fate that awaits them in the original tale with the betrayal of Arthur. Those that do remember are torn between the strength of character found in Gwen and their memories of the much milder Guinevere. The tensions caused as a result of a future that hasn't even occurred make for some interesting situations as each character has to sort out their feelings about what hasn't yet happened with what is actually occurring this time around. Michele Lang excels at writing books that are both entertaining and thought provoking and MS. PENDRAGON is no exception. Ms. Lang puts her own mystical touch to this tale, creating an entirely new type of Camelot legend. The ending is a beautiful set up for the sequel, MISTS OF MANHATTAN, as the reader finishes MS. PENDRAGON thoroughly satisfied yet eagerly anticipating the next book. Michele Lang continues to produce superb stories with her unique metaphysical flair. MS. PENDRAGON is a fascinating story with just the right touch of humor to keep it from becoming too serious. Readers should grab a copy of MS. PENDRAGON as this is one phenomenal story! Ms. Pengradon is a great read as well as a great romance. This re-telling of the Camelo story from Gueiviere's perspective features the sexiest King Arthur ever (you've got to read the scene where King Arthur interrupts Guieneiver in her bath of rose petals), as well as a truly absorbing tale of Gueinviere's journey of self-discovery. It also has just plain great writing, descriptions, and romance! I enjoyed this romance novel more than any other!

Furiously Fun Read,

This review is from: Ms. Pendragon (Mass Market Paperback)
I don't remember how I discovered Michele Lang, but I sure am glad I did. Her book, which I understand is the first of a series, is a magical, fun adventure. It's written in a hip and witty New York fashion, but its content is often quite mystical and romantic. The combination of the two styles makes Ms. Pendragon a very unique reading experience. It taps our innermost fantasies and memories of childhood legends and fast-forwards us into our present, modern, hectic reality. It is sexy and funny. And fascinating. A must read!

Here's Camelot like you've never seen it before..,

This review is from: Ms. Pendragon (Mass Market Paperback)
Gwen's life should be perfect...she's got a successful law practice and a good friend with whom she can talk about anything. She scoffs at the unexplainable, at the beliefs of her friend Viv, a Wiccan priestess. But now she's got a major problem - her apartment is haunted, possessed really - and the presence of this spirit has made a believer out of her. She now believes that there are things that defy logic. When she meets a man who stirs half-forgotten memories inside her and claims to know her from a time long ago, he offers to help her find the one man who can vanquish the evil in her home...and hopefully save her life in the process.
Suddenly Gwen finds herself living a fairy tale, and filling the shoes of one of history's most misunderstood and tragic figures. She must find the magic and power within herself if she's to combat Mordred and his wickedness; she must draw deep, on the essence of who she is to make amends with Arthur. She must choose her mate and, in so doing, change the course of time and history past, present and future. The fate of the world is tied up in what Gwen does next, and she'll be darned if she'll miss the mark... Holy Excalibur, Batman! This is a "Girl Power" story if I've ever read one, made only better by being bundled up with my all-time favorite, the Arthurian legend, as a backdrop. Michele Lang weaves a wondrous and wickedly witty tale of the "real" Camelot in Ms. Pendragon. I was enchanted from the first page and this story kept the zingers coming all throughout - giving readers an exciting and emotional roller coaster ride through the very fabric of time. Supporting characters are well-drawn and add immensely to the plot. Betrayal, passion and magic circle warily in this luxuriant piece, and culminate in a shattering and shocking climax that will knock your socks clean off. Pithy, poignant and powerful, this book really sang for me; I look forward to many more such stories from Michele Lang! [...]

Amazing Addition to a Classic Story,
By B. Sherrard-Maurin "From Flying Off The Shelv... (Ronkonkoma, NY USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Ms. Pendragon (Mass Market Paperback)
I have nothing but good things to say about this book. It is an excellent retelling of the original story. Michele Lang brought the past familiar characters into characters we know in the here and now. She also modernized the story through her changes of their names, mannerisms that are both old and new, as well as giving them modern jobs. The fact that she made Gwen a lawyer was particularly amusing. As far as these new characters compared with their older counterparts, Michele Lang made them stronger and more rounded.
In regard to the way she writes, she is awesome! She drops you in the her world and has you learning about it as the characters do. This is definitely one of the most important elements of any book, if you can't feel for the characters than the story is hollow. You will love and hate some of the characters. Her humor is deadly! Be prepared for strange looks when you laugh out loud. When I finished this book I was craving the next! You will need to know how this story ends. Overall this book gets a 5. For more reviews: [..]
