Better for fun, but not for a serious workout..,

This review is from: Mtv / Grind Workout: Dance Club Aerobics [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Yes, this video is great if you like to dance and feel like messing around for a whole hour doing much of nothing but watching people dance.I agree the moves are original and sparked my interest at first, but there is no real workout involved here, no real sweating and no real cardio workout. If you're looking for a good workout to do at home, skip this one, it's a waste of time and money.

Not for Beginners!,

I was looking for a workout that incorporated great music and dance movements but this one was way beyond my skills ability. I found the pace was way too fast and that the directions to 'just keep re-winding the tape until you get the steps' really curbed my enthusiasm. Also, this is not a tape to use if you don't have considerable floor space that has a great view of the T.V. (apartment dwellers, etc.). After kicking the couch a few times, I'm afraid I just packed this tape away. On the plus side, the music was good and the performers had a high level of enthusiasm (although I would say that appreciating Eric Nies' personality must be an 'acquired taste')

For the simple dancer,

I was a little reluctant to buy a 1998 tape in 2002 but it was on sale and it ended up being so worth it. Yes, the moves can be a little difficult at first but if you love to dance, the 50 mins FLEW by. Some reviews say it doesnt 'work you out' but you have to intensify it yourself but doing the moves at tempo speed and trust me, if you dont break out into a sweat, something's wrong on your end. I didnt buy this video for Erik Nies, I bought it so I dont have to hear people yelling 1-2-3-4 at music that sometimes sounds like background porn music. I love this video and intend to do it as often as possible. The music is great if you are into dancing club music. Just make the most of it!

Definitely For the Dancer,

This video is definitely for someone who likes to dance and is well coordinated. It takes a few trials before you can master the steps, but once you do, it's a fun workout. This would be a much better workout if they had an instruction section. Your heartrate will decrease while you're trying to catch the moves.

This video is FUN!,

Okay, those of you who've seen MTV Grind workouts before, you know Eric Niles is sorta lame... but these videos are so much fun!!! The dance steps are increasingly challenging, but I successfully mastered them in a week. And, despite what some of these reviews said, if you do the steps with the dancers, you do work up a sweat! But if you're getting this to get the newest club moves, forget it. I found the routine rather cheesy and if I saw someone doing it in a club, honestly, I would laugh. I really liked Akiva Tripp, who basically hosts this workout. Shes very encouraging and energetic. (And Kristen's moves are HILARIOUS! Buy this video just to laugh at her!)

Tough to learn, but worth it,

The first time I put this video in, I was totally lost. But learning the routine is so worth it. It is fun and the dancers are a great group, and being able to do the whole dance is something I am glad I accomplished. If dancing is not your thing and you're not willing to put a little time into learning it, skip this one. Personally, I love this workout.

not a good one from MTV this time,
This review is from: Mtv / Grind Workout: Dance Club Aerobics [VHS] (VHS Tape)
this tape is a previous viewer said, they goof off and the steps are somewhat silly and not really target toning or cardio for that matter. when the instructor throws her hand in the air, she really just throws them in all directions and starts laughing and being goofy. it;s like they are just seeing who is prettier or who has the hottest moves, not a workout at all. quite dissapoiting since i have the Grind and it is awesome. now that does give you a workout. i don't recommend this tape, buy the Grind instead

Pretty Good,

At first, the only workout I was getting was in my thumb from having to rewind so much. I consider myself pretty coordinated, but it was tricky following most of the moves at first. The camera jumps & rotates around a lot--fine if it were just an MTV music video, but distracting when you're trying to learn from the dancers (who also never quite explain which direction they're moving or which foot/arm to use--and they're never shot from behind). I figured it out after about a week and then it got to be kind of fun. All that talk & attitude eventually gets annoying, but Eric *is* a cutie and all the rest are inspiring to see too.

Yeah. yeah. yeah. yeah. yeah. yeah........eric is incredibly hot. buuuuut it's even better when you get a work out also! actually....i JUST got done, and i love it! it gets your heartbeat up and your blood flowing! it's just what you need for a pick-me-up. but MAKE SURE you have plenty of water, and another thing....take it slow. if you can't figure a move out. rewind it a couple times. it'll get easier! don't worry! thanx! byebye! *~

A fun, great workout!,

I bought this video because I was bored staring at a wall while running on my treadmill and using my stationary bike. Let me tel you... this is a lot more interesting! I have had a lot of fun learning the dance routine. The first 2 times you do the workout, you might have to rewind the video occasionally if you miss a step, but it's not too difficuly, especially if you like to dance. While this is no super cardio workout, it's still works you some... and it's well worth the time.I especially like how they break it into half-time so you can get all the steps just right. Another part that I loved was how all the steps offer space for you to "add your own flavor" (translation= shake it!) and do whatever you want. I recommend this video! It's no intense workout, but it makes me sweat and I have a great time! |
