Things like this are the problem with hard music today,
By Justin (good old Rhode Island) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mtv's Return of the Rock (Audio CD)
This is a poor excuse for a compilation CD and an insult to most of the bands on here. Not only that, this album is also very dangerous to the state of hard music today. Before you vote my review "not helpful", take a look at the track listing. Notice how, with few exceptions, they put every hit radio single on here? What are they trying to say? That the only good song of Incubus worth listening to is "Pardon Me"? Just because it's the hit single? It's painfully obvious that MTV is picking up on something that's become more popular recently, and they're trying to turn it into a blatant trend. Because of Korn's increasing TRL exposure, MTV caught the scent of money and immediately started to turn this music into another flavor-of-the-month. Most of the kids that buy this will do so because all their favorite radio songs are on one disc, and they won't ever appreciate any of the other songs any of the artists did. Once hard music stops being trendy with the MTV kids, they'll just flock to the next music trend, find some new bands that they can buy T-shirts of, and leave one of the best styles of music ever behind as if it were just another trend. So please, for everyone's sake, if you're a fan of this type of music, don't buy this album that disgraces the bands on here because of MTV's attempt to turn good bands into one hit wonders. Instead, buy all the albums by Sevendust, Incubus, Machine Head, and other good bands and listen to the whole album, not just the radio singles. I guarantee that by really listening to these band's music, you'll discover much more good music than you can ever hear on MTV's ridiculous shows. You'd be doing yourself a favor, and by appreciating all of the songs, not just the hit singles, you can help keep hard music alive and well long after the MTV era passes. If you have any opinions, please share them, my e-mail is Khutta@aol.com.

Best Hard/Heavy/Metal Rock Album Ever,
By Juan M. Contreras (Rockville, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mtv's Return of the Rock (Audio CD)
MTV's Return of the Rock is awesome. The feeling, rythm and beat of all these songs is great. From Kid Rock's "F--- That" to the last track the album is a music odyssey to today's best hard core/heavy/metal rock. With some songs having a taste of hip-hop, this album is a masterpiece. All the groups featured here all rock and kick [butt]. This album is a great buy. You will enjoy every song. The only defficiency in the album is that group some of the songs are not the best the group had to offer. I admit this album is not for everyone, but if you at least know one of the performers, you'll understand and like the rest.

The Return of the Good Stuff!,
By Loudogg (Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mtv's Return of the Rock (Audio CD)
Well at first I bought this cd beacause it has some of myfavorite songs on it like Spit it out, Southtown, Make Me Bad, andWhen Worlds Collide, not thinking much of the other songs. But when i listened to the whole cd, all that I said at the end was "dude, that was awesome!" I never even knew bands like Kittie, Staind, Incubus, and Boiler Room were so good. I just bought the cd today and I've listened to it so many times it's not even funny. I'm actually listening to it right now. It's some powerful junk. Anyone who likes bands like Korn, Kid Rock, and Slpknot buy this cd. It's the sweetest cd I've heard in my life! I hope you liked my review if you didn't sorry but write your own. Buy this cd, if not for me do it for the children!

You get what you pay for,

I expected hard, heavy compliations on this and that is what i got. This is some of the best heavy music around today. For those who say it is not real "rock". It is what rock has turned into today. No it is not Jimmy Page or Lynryd Skynrd. The return of rock isn't classic rock, it is basically something new. I do wish RATM would have been included. But this cd doesn't let down. I love all kinds of rock, from the Beattles to Slipknot. So i recommend putting this in your collection, It truly is one of my favorite albums. Staind and Machine Head have some damn fine songs on this. So get the CD and go body slam someone.

Go out now and get this cd!,

This is a great all around complilation of hard rock. Seriosly go get this cd! Unlike most music collections, this cd includes the good songs from these artists. I was disappointed that the new Static-x song sucked(and is the worst on this cd)but all the other great songs cover for this bad apple. Lets hope there'll be another rock album like this from MTV next summer!

A Good Rock Album.,
By Nick Watkins "Nick Watkins" (New Albany, Indiana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mtv's Return of the Rock (Audio CD)
Though most of these songs harldy recieve any MTV airplay, the folks at MTV somehow came to a decision to put them on their "Return Of The Rock" album anyway. Most of the tracks on here on already released, but some are rare or recorded especially for the album, and a couple are remixes. I will now review the songs I like.2.Slipknot-Spit It Out-5/5-The first good song on the album. Slipknot's first album's single, very heavy and fast. One of the best, even though it is already released. 4.Korn-Make Me Bad (Sickness in Salvation Mix)-5/5-Almost better than the original, but far more eerie. Jonathan repeats "Sickness...salvation" thru most of the song, which can get annoying (if you let it annoy you), but still deserved a 5. Get this Cd if you're a fan of any of the artists on it, and you don't care about wasting your money on songs you already have.
