4.0 out of 5 stars Gentle Look at the Trials of Establishing the Pecking Order, May 15, 2003
Steven Kellog somehow keeps his many books fresh and entertaining. "Much Bigger than Martin" captures the angst of sibling rivalry by exploring how the younger brother reacts and rebels to the injustices, both real and perceived, from being the youngest kid.

Mr. Kellog is never preachy, but infuses this universal tale with humor and wit. As always, his illustrations fit the story to a "T" and reveal not just what is happening, but, more importantly, what the younger brother wants to have happen.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the younger kids in the family, this is a great book!!, November 25, 2000

I remember reading this book in grade school and I just loved it. I was the baby in the family and my brother always got to do stuff that I wished I could and I sometimes wished I was bigger like the boy in the book. I have two boys of my own now and cant wait to share this book with them. It definatly puts a smile on my face watching my children enjoying books that I loved when I was little and really enjoy to read still..

Even if you're not the second or third child, you can relate to how hard it is to be little. Martin has ALL the privileges. Martin has ALL the fun. Martin's downfall is plotted by his little brother in delicious illustrations with Kellogg's keen eye for the ridiculous and affection for the underdog. This was a family favorite, especially for the youngest one!

5.0 out of 5 stars a personal favorite, November 20, 2007

As a child, I loved reading this book. I loved the illustrations and thought the plight of Martin's younger brother was hilarious. It's a great book for 2nd or 3rd grader and is a very easy read. I enjoyed this book tremendously then and I still get a kick out of it now.
