Stunning Album, wow!!!, November 27, 2002
This review is from: Too Much Happiness Makes Kids Paranoid (Audio CD)
I saw linea 77 play live in 2000 and they were absolutely amazing. I got this album, and the newer 'ketchup suicide' album, both are brilliant. The two vocalists have completely unique styles and create something I feel Nu-Metal has never seen before. From hardcore to melodic in an instant, this is the bands catchy method. I think that it is hard to compare this band to any other because they are so unique. With heavy bass lines, melodic vocals and some excellent riffs, this album is a must buy.
This is Italian gold!, buy it keep, pleasure from it!!!

Incredible crossover band with a definite future, June 27, 2000
This review is from: Too Much Happiness Makes Kids Paranoid (Audio CD)
Linea 77 is an amazing band from Italy and finally the U.S. will get the chance to experience their music. "Too Much Happiness... Makes Kids Paranoid" is a cd that has actually been around for a while, only in the U.K. though. The band was finally signed by a larger label in Earache Records who re-released the cd in the U.K. (which I was able to purchase) and now it is released here in the U.S.. Definitely an up and coming band that will grab your attention.
The music is crossover at its best infusing elements of hard and fast, soft and melodic, some touches of rap or hip-hop, all the while maintaining a heavy, groove-laden trip. The music is dominated by the bass and percussion feedback and the requisite down-tuned guitars which is probably the only element they need to work on. The only real problem is that the sound seems to have a kind of distortion to it and at times overrides the vocals. This could just be the production but otherwise the music is solid and retains some originality.
The lyrics on the album are handled by two separate vocalists and it is hard to differentiate from them as they both possess weird sounding voices though one has a heavier sound than the other. Whether rapping, hardcore singing or screaming, or some melodic singing, the duo definitely have there own style, which is very emotional and powerful with a trip-like vibe. The lyrics, though simplistic in nature, are kind of confusing as to what they are trying to portray, possibly due to their lack of understanding English. Still, all but two of the songs on the cd are sung in English.
The cd starts out with "Touch" which features pounding beats and riffs in time with the blistering vocals. "Meat" has inter-weaving guitar riffs, rap-like verses, and melodic choruses. "90 Degrees" is one of the best songs on the cd, featuring groove-laden music, and rap-type vocals done entirely in Italian which adds definition to the song. "Big Hole Man" has steady music and features rap-like verses underlined with beautiful melodic singing and powerful choruses. "Nosedive" is under-lined by distinct guitar riffs and features rap-like vocal attacks punctuated by thudding beats and the song ends on a very powerful note. "Tutto Quello Che Ho Sempre Voluto" is another song done entirely in Italian with very cool choruses featuring that rap-type attack underlined by melodic singing. "Swellfish" is a very cool song that showcases the best of hard and melodic.
Due to a new record deal and constant touring, Linea 77 is set to explode. Though not as well known here in the states, this band possesses amazing talent and unlimited potential. There is room for growth and when they release their upcoming new cd this will determine just how good a band Linea 77 really is. In the meantime enjoy this cd and check other amazing acts from around the world: Superheist (Australia), Hangin' On A Thread (Italy), Shovel (Sweden), Fantoche (Brazil), Unfashion (Brazil), Earthtone 9 (England), Crawlblind (UK), Seventh (Australia), Engine 11 (Germany) and Neva (Canada).

After buying this album i have come to my humble conclusion that this is the most boring generic album i have ever heard, listin to Tool, Deftones or Glassjaw if you want a real good cd. This really is terrible.
