4.0 out of 5 stars (so much love)
Shola Ama's "Much Love" debut album has got the one thing I've been looking for - sexiness. But she does not push it over the top, so you can play it without candle-lights too!

While not every track can reach my pretty high standards, a few of them can become addctively attractive, I'm sure. Most of you will remember "You might need somebody", but...

3.0 out of 5 stars Much Love
I'd never heard of Shola Ama until I saw this album on the UK Amazon site - what a shame the album didn't really hit in the US because it's a very good debut. The whole album has a classy, melodic vibe much like Tamia's debut and similarly both ladies were teenagers when their debuts were released and shunned explicit lyrics.

Shola Ama's "Much Love" debut album has got the one thing I've been looking for - sexiness. But she does not push it over the top, so you can play it without candle-lights too!

While not every track can reach my pretty high standards, a few of them can become addctively attractive, I'm sure. Most of you will remember "You might need somebody", but her first single "You're the one I love" (- quite a nice one!) is also on it. Another good track is "Celebrate" - a smooth sexy tune reminding you to celebrate your love (at night-time - heyhey!).

Other CD's you might want to look at - are Madonna's "Bedtime Stories", and Janet Jackson's "Design Of Decade". Different styles. Same sexiness. If you want something for the evening-time - this is a good choice to start with.

one love was one of my first albums i brought and just connected with.Shola emerged in 97 with her biggest hit to date YOU MIGHT NEED SOMEBODY and few singles followed from this album but shola never quite captured the success of her deubt hit.

However with her loyal fans still lovin shola she has since put out two more albums and had a hit with the reply to mario winnas i dont wanna know.
Anyways back to one love .Simply put its a claasy affair with gorg old skool melodies which bring to mind a late eveining vibe looking out the window at an orange sky ,glass of wine in hand and sholas sweet voice on the stereo.x

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Talented, April 25, 2004
This review is from: Much Love (Audio CD)
I have to say that shola's work is unbelievably good. Just like the reviewer before me im so upset i didn't hear her sooner. She came out 3 years, before Craig David and I noticed him first. It's sad, but she's just as talented as Craig David. This album was her first and probably her best, in the soulful sense. This is a classic, very mellow album by Shola. Really good lyrics and production as well. Cuts like "Celebrate, Your the one I love, One love, Much Love, and many of the rest are just straight hot. Shola's other albums are also well done, but i say this is the best one. Yall should check this one out though. If Craig David, you probably might like this. She has a sexy pure voice. My last word is She is so beautiful and such a talented artist. Shola's doing her thing and im impressed and I believe u all will to, when hearing her album

I really enjoy the mellow sounds of Shola Ama. I'm so upset I didn't discover her sooner. I can relate to her songs. I feel her music becasue at some point I've felt the same way. Just buy it. I'm so sure you won't be disappointed.

Vocally Shola reminds me of a cross between Randy Crawford & Tamia and the pure r&b tone of this album is refreshing especially given the trend of adding more hip hop elements to the genre during the time this album was released.

My stand-out tracks are: ALL MINE, YOU'RE THE ONE I LOVE, YOU MIGHT NEED SOMEBODY (excellent updated cover of a Randy Crawford track), SUMMER LOVE, I DON'T KNOW - an interlude that I wish was a full track & ONE LOVE.
