4.0 out of 5 stars Mucinex Is a Must for Sinus Sufferers!
Being a long-time sinus sufferer, I found the benefits of guiafenesin years before it became "MUCINEX". Without it, my sinuses get plugged and irritated within a few days, setting me up for recurrent infections. It works as an "expectorant" which means it helps keep the mucus thinned so your sinuses can clear more easily and don't become a breeding ground for bacteria...

2.0 out of 5 stars No change in symptoms for me.
I've been using this product for 6 weeks now, 2 pills per day, and zero change in my mucus and sinus problems. I suffer from sinus congestion, have difficulty breathing through my nose due to the congestion and get a lot of mucus stuck in my throat. After 6 weeks of using this product my condition has not gotten better and has not gotten worse. Many people claim it works...

Being a long-time sinus sufferer, I found the benefits of guiafenesin years before it became "MUCINEX". Without it, my sinuses get plugged and irritated within a few days, setting me up for recurrent infections. It works as an "expectorant" which means it helps keep the mucus thinned so your sinuses can clear more easily and don't become a breeding ground for bacteria and /or viruses.
As a clinic-based, practicing RN, I know that Mucinex / guiafenesin is often recommended by physicians, and is a safe product with very few side effects or drug interactions. (NO, I'm not getting paid by anyone to say any of this!)
Mucinex in this Extended Release formula minimizes the number of daily doses down to once or twice daily depending on your personal needs. This 100 tablet bottle is definitely the cheapest way to purchase - I had been getting it at WalMart for the past few years (until my smart sister told me to check for it on Amazon :-) in the 40 tablet bottles for almost $20 per bottle!
If you have sinus problems, especially chronic ones, or are prone to recurring infections, Mucinex is certainly worth a try.

I use this everyday, all year long. I have lung problems due to an illness that I inherited, and this really helps. It was recommended by an ear, nose, and throat doctor along the time it came out. The last place I ordered it from was a seller through Amazon, DAB Nutrition; the price could not be beat.

If you have any kind of lung or breathing problem(s), give this a try; it does what it says, is easy to swallow(and I have problems swallowing pills), and does not interfere with any of my many medications. You WILL notice a difference.

Have been using Mucinex when it was still a prescription med. The price I paid for this bottle of 100 tablets (approximately $25) is by far the best price I have ever found. I also believe it to be superior to the generics I have also used. If Amazon continues the good price, I will continue to purchase here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mucinex for Fibromyalgia, March 26, 2009

I obtained some information on the use of an expectorant for the symptoms of fibromyalgia from the website www.fibrofix.com. Not knowing if there is a true scientific basis for these claims, it still made sense to me as I often feel as though my body were full of "sludge." And it has helped! My pain has decreased; my energy has increased; and my sleep quality has improved. Scientific or not, if it works for me I'm going to use it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works for me. . ., March 24, 2008

Because of certain medications I take, I'm limited in what I can take for congestion. Even with the Mucinex, I don't take the D or the DM (unless I'm dealing with a bad cough). The regular Mucinex does the trick for me. I think those who say it doesn't work don't take it long enough to experience real results. After a couple of days, you feel much better. As a matter of fact, I have the worst sinuses in the world, and after taking Mucinex, I've improved with that, too. It's more costly, but worth it.

I have COPD and my doctor prescribed Guaifenesin for lung congestion. When Guaifenesin became an over the counter drug I started taking Mucinex 600 mg tablets. I stopped taking Mucinex for a short time and experienced lung congestion and problems breathing. I started back with Mucinex and have taken them for several years.

5.0 out of 5 stars eases some asthma problems, January 16, 2008
This review is from: Mucinex 100 Immediate Extended Release Tablets (600mg) (Health and Beauty)
I went to my doctor with a cloggy throat (mucus)and my usual moderate asthma problems. She suggested trying Mucinex regular (not D). It has actually been a big help for me, though I never travel without a rescue inhaler and definitely need stronger asthma meds in allergy season. MUCINEX IS A HELP but NOT a cure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, July 17, 2010
This review is from: Mucinex 100 Immediate Extended Release Tablets (600mg) (Health and Beauty)
As previously stated by another RN this is a great med to fight sinus infections. I have been taking it for acute bronchitis and it really thins out the mucus secretions so they can be coughed up and out. That is in Expectorant form.

This 12 hour extended release bi-layer tablet really cuts down on the number of pills required during 24 hours. The price at Amazon includes free shipping with doorstep delivery that is so wonderful when you don't feel well.

I would like to add two words of advice when it comes to the acute bronchitis usage of this medication. 1. Be sure any OTC drugs do NOT include an antihistamine (such as Benedryl) because that will only defeat the purpose of the Mucinex by drying and thickening secretions so they are even MORE difficult to express up. 2. Always check with your physician when adding ANY type of new medication to your drug regime. Although Guaifenesin has been around for years a drug interaction is NOT pretty. Avoiding one is well worth the "time on hold" waiting for an office nurse to take your call.

Happy Breathing!
