When Jule Anne walks out her door one day she finds a pesky mud puddle just waiting to jump on her. And if you think that's bad, just wait until you see the other tricks that puddle plays on her. But after being scrubbed clean over and over, Jule Anne comes up with a trick of her own to play on the unsuspecting mud puddle.

Bob Munsch has written yet another light hearted story to which every child can relate and most importantly, laugh about. With his masterful repetion and the fact that he seems to somehow truly know what it's like to be a kid, children will undoubtedly be glued to this story from beginning to end. My kindergarten class cheers each time they see me bring this book out.

I have read this book to classes of preschoolers - second graders, they all love it! They love being able to participate, "Hey Mud Puddle!". It is just a all around fun book. All kids love to play in the mud! Though I have to admit my husband and son (grandkids' dad) aren't fond of it at all.

I love every Robert Munsch book I have ever read! I teach first grade and his books are always a hit. This book, just like his other books, helps students use their imagination, laugh at situations and guess the results.
Jule Ann tries SO HARD to stay clean, but the mud puddle just keeps find her. Get story to get students to predict how to solve the problem!
It shows ANYTHING can happen.
Highly recommend.

The students in my kindergarten class, year in and year out, love this book more than most other Munsch books- an author they uniformly love. The idea of a mud puddle hiding out around a child's house, waiting to pounce and dirty the child's clean clothes, brings laughter and a little bit of appropriate tension, with each reading. The illustrations are a little bit sloppier and muddier than the normal Munsch books, as Sami Suomalainen does the art instead of Munsch's usual collaborator, Michael Martchenko. The Mud Puddle itself is fluid and sprawling with a gleefully malicious grin that intimidates in just the right way.
A great read for elementary school kids, a book I love to read as I watch the kids react, and to top it all off, the "wonders of soap" appears at the end to help solve the mud puddle problem. Classic Munsch!

That mud puddle keeps finding and jumping on her! Where is it hiding now? How soes she get it to stop? My 2 and 3 yr. old kids love this story, and ask for it daily. (I run a home daycare).

Our grandson (3) loved this book and wanted it read over and over again! The idea of mud waiting to pounce on the main character just delighted him. He also could relate to clothes getting dirty in no time at all!

I was so happy to find Mud Puddle on Amazon.com. I read this story to my Kindergarten class many years ago. They loved it and would ask to hear it over and over again. It was my favorite also. Recently, I was visiting with two little boys in occupied Israel. I told them the story of Mud Puddle to entertain them and, yes, they asked for it over and over. When I returned home, to my delight, I found the book still available on line and sent it to them. Now they can have the Mud Puddle story over and over again.

I live in Alaska so I invited them to visit me here so we can go on a Mud Puddle hunt.

A terrific read aloud for spring/mud season each year. The children are usually giggling with each page as it is read. Pausing adds extra effect when the audience tries to remember what comes next.... "Jule Ann buttoned up clean new pants..." ends up "completely all over muddy" every time! (But Mom, a mud puddle jumped on me.) Have fun with it! Robert Munsch is a favorite read aloud author.

This paperback book is a fun, Fun, FUN read aloud! Fairly predictable text, my students (SpEd) were able to predict (a critical skill) fairly well. Munsch writes books kids enjoy reading several times. A great addition to your (growing) Munsch collection! A great buy!

This is a really fun read! It's a story about what every little preschooler dreams of doing...playing in the mud!!! A must have!
