Bagpipe rock music that goes way beyond its gimmick,
By "halfbakedpotato" (New Orleans, LA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mudmen (Audio CD)
So the Mudmen play with bagpipes. That much we know. The point is that the bagpipes wouldn't mean a thing if the music wasn't good. But that's what makes the Mudmen so great. Even without the bagpipes, this would be a damn solid rock record. The Mudmen have great scope, able to allow songs like the supercharged "Drink & Fight" to share album space with the ballad "Lost," and both songs represent their styles aptly. The addition of bagpipes to the music is not only inventive, but also extremely resourceful, not simply a gimmick. Definitely the best new band out there.

I'm more of a punk music fan, but when I heard of these guys, I checked them out, and was shocked by the unique sound of rock they had, truly one of a kind. Definately worth a listen.
