The most glorious painting you will ever hear!,

I would give 100 stars if I could! As a person deeply appreciative of music, whose life has been chronicled by "what-moved-me-when," I can state unequivocally that this CD, in whatever format future technology brings along, will be spinning for me for years to come. I've just discovered KRISTA DETOR, having recently attended a fabulous house concert through the urging of a fellow music lover, and could not be more grateful for that priceless tip! Krista's ability to paint a gloriously vivid landscape through her evocative lyrics and haunting vocals woven together with exquisite piano playing is staggering. Quite beyond all comments about her obvious genius, however, is the simple truth that she delivers stunningly gorgeous music. Play this CD and you, too, will be rendered powerless to remove it from your CD player. It just blows me away! Do not fail to add this exquisite compilation to your music collection!
That is, if Amazon ever makes it available ... if not, go buy it on [...], but go buy it! And buy some extra copies for your favorite music-loving friends while you're at it. They will forever be grateful for your clever insight and generous spirit!

This is a great album. Both of Krista's albums bring you to think, listen and feel. She is talented not only in writing but her voice is that of an angel. Her work on the piano captures rhythm and flowing movement. Her work is truly original. She sounds amazing live as well!!!

Krista DeTor's lyrics are some of the best I've heard, her piano playing is lovely, and the construction of her songs is, pun kind-of intended, sound. Some writers can tell a good story, some can turn a good phrase. DeTor does both: builds songs to last -- she an architect, each song a cathedral -- yet with consummate attention to detail -- each flawless image a stroke from a pre-Rafaelite paintbrush. The title song, "Mudshow" is the epitome -- it's an entire movie in one song: the story of a seemingly non-descript bigtop worker, how he came to this job, his inner conflicts and conflicts with the other expertly-, concisely-drawn characters. DeTor makes sweeping up after a show feel as epic as Lucifer's fall from grace. I saw a negative review for this album, in which the critic complains of not being able to hear the words of the album. My conclusion is that the problem is not in the production value of the CD, but rather with the ears of the reviewer or a flawed individual disc. I can hear the lyrics clearly, and the instrumental music complements the lyrical music brilliantly. It's hard for me to imagine anyone who appreciates good songwriting truly listening to this album and not being impressed. I liked the album a lot when I first heard it (a gift from a friend). After years of listening, I love it. It is one of the few albums I can return to and discover more layers of poetry each time.

Not even one star. Mudshow, muddy music, whatever. Vocals completely masked by instrumentals on un-remarkable music compositions. Turned up treble, turned down bass, still can't understand a word of any of the tracks. A rip-off.
