Just gets better and better!,
By Danny (San Jose) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mudvayne: Lost and Found (Audio CD)
I bought this album a week after its release, I've already owned LD 50 and TEOATTC and seen them live twice before. You can say I'm a big Mudvayne fan...
I listened to this album in my car driving home. While the first few songs sounded really great, the rest of them started sounding alike so I would only listen to the first half and repeat the tracks. Then I bought another 2 albums(Audioslaves new one and Becks new one) and gave this album a rest. After a week or two I came back and listened to Lost and Found again with a fresh take on it. I'd say almost every song on here is now officially a "greatest hit" It takes some getting used to, but this album is dare I say it...they're best to date. In my opinion, I felt strongly about Determined (brutal) Happy IMN (heaviest track) Fall into Sleep (almost radio friendly) Rain.Sun.Gone (almost radio friendly) TV Radio (punkiest sound) All that You Are(talented song to me) Congratulations to the band members and I'll be back to buy your next album!

The good...the bad...and the ugly,
By The Deac (Bristow, VA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mudvayne: Lost and Found (Audio CD)
Mudvayne always have made some of the more original metal in the past few years. LD 50 in particular was full of clever music...complete from drums, to guitar, to vocals, and particularly in bass. Now, with Lost and Found, the band continues to attempt to push into new frontiers...with mixed results.
The CD itself has some polar differences. This is not one that can be digested after only one listen. The song structures and track layout gives the CD a lot of variety, which is kinda odd at first. Aside from Rain.Sun.Gone and Choices, which transition seemlessly (you won't even notice the track changed at first), the rest of the CD goes from one extreme to the other. The heavier tracks (Determined, IMN, Just) are all spread out. The obvious singles (Happy? & Fall Into Sleep) give hooks you haven't really heard from Mudvayne much before aside from World So Cold...they have a mainstream sound, but at the same time it does not sound like anything else on the radio. They both work. But there are without a doubt disposable tracks 3/4 of the way through. And Choices really didn't have to be 8 minutes long! The DVD side isn't anything spectacular. There are "videos" for Determined and Happy?, though they cut in-studio and making of footage into the videos (they are not the same videos you see on Headbangers Ball). Aside from that, its kinda dull actually. The DVD audio sounds spectacular though. Determined, Happy? & Fall Into Sleep will enter the Mudvayne "greatest hits" category now. While nothing else is terrible, nothing is out of the world great either.

Lost And Sorta Found,
By
This review is from: Mudvayne: Lost and Found (Audio CD)
Mudvayne returns with a new album and a new look(no makeup this time). Not being a huge Mudvayne fan, I wasn't expecting a whole lot and pretty much got what I figured I would. Basically, 'Lost And Found' is a hit-and-miss affair. Some of the tracks here, especially 'Determined' and 'Happy', really kill but a lot of the others seem to me to be usual filler material.
While not as good as 'LD50', this new album isn't bad. But other than a couple of tracks though, there is nothing here that you would repeatedly listen to.
