5.0 out of 5 stars This book made me a muffin baking addict!, December 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Muffins A to Z (The A to Z Cookbook Series) (Hardcover)
I had received another muffin cookbook as a gift several years ago and then decided to try this one. It has been a hit. Every recipe I've tried has been great (particularly the carrot muffins and the lemon muffins). I still have many recipes left to try, but they all sound good. I am rapidly becoming the "Muffin Queen" and am buying two more copies as Christmas gifts.

I also recommend "Muffins: Sixty Sweet and Savory Recipes" by Elizabeth Alston.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the Best Muffins!, October 9, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Muffins A to Z (The A to Z Cookbook Series) (Hardcover)
I've tried most of the recipes in the book, all are fantastic! Pumkpin praline being my favorite. They are easy to make and fast! Most of the recipes use ingredients you ordinarily keep on hand. All the muffins I have brought into work have been a big hit. If you ever need a muffin book buy this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars 12 muffin books later, still #1, March 28, 2001

Over the past three years, I have purchased twelve muffin recipe books. Page for page, this is the best in the collection. Too many muffin books (to fill space I guess) fall back on offering you fourteen variations on a theme you already know. Ms. Simmons doesn't use up time and space with repetitive recipes. Get one and you will never leave home without Vagabond Muffins.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have for Anyone Who Wants to Bake Great Muffins!, August 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Muffins A to Z (The A to Z Cookbook Series) (Hardcover)
Use the advice given in the beginning about how to make muffins, follow the recipes, and you will bake muffins that are better than you could ever have imagined. The recipes are simple and the advice sound. My family has loved all the muffins I've tried (and I've tried most of the recipes). I've recently ordered Marie Simmons' Bar Cookies A-Z.

4.0 out of 5 stars Marie's foolproof technique = wonderful muffins!!, June 22, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Muffins A to Z (The A to Z Cookbook Series) (Hardcover)
I enjoy baking very much, but never being a good muffin baker, I was skeptical when a friend of mine gave me this book. Wow, did it ever change my mind about how wonderful and how easy muffins can be. Marie has a foolproof technique for making tender and delicious muffins, and her recipes are unique yet not off-the-wall. For a real treat, try the Favorite Steiger Haus Carrot and Apple Muffins!

This is a book I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys baking and eating muffins.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our Go-To Muffin Book, October 28, 2009
This review is from: Muffins A to Z (The A to Z Cookbook Series) (Hardcover)
I've owned this book for over a decade, and it is absolutely the best! The recipes are quite varied - everything from double chocolate to jalapeno cheese. They're also malleable - you can change ingredients as you like, because reading the recipes over time helps you learn how to exchange ingredients, increase/decrease to taste - as long as you follow basic proportions and preparation rules, which the author makes very clear. The how-to instructions at the very beginning are super-helpful for beginners, too. There's no need for any other muffin cookbook. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Short read!, April 24, 2011

Not much to this book... maybe 20-25 recipes. It has a few that look tasty. I like the A to Z Bars book much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars I bought this years ago ..., December 4, 2010
This review is from: Muffins A to Z (The A to Z Cookbook Series) (Hardcover)
... as a selection from a food and crafting book of the month club. I've never bought another muffin baking cookbook since; this has everything I've needed.

Pros: 1) the recipes are (mostly) very tasty and reliable. 2) The introduction tells you everything you need to know specifically about baking muffins. Muffins are easy to make but there are a couple of tips that ensure success every time. 3) These recipes, unlike many others I've tried, actually produce a dozen full-sized muffins as promised instead of a skimpy nine or ten.

Cons: 1) What's with the "$43.94 new" price tag? I paid $12.95 for my own copy and as much as I like this book $43.94 is pretty steep for a small hardback. This must be some sort of supply-demand pricing. 2) If you're concerned about nutrition, these recipes provide zero in the way of nutritional information. Unless a subsequent edition included this data, you'll have to compute calorie and fat content on your own.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have for muffin fans!!, September 21, 2010
This review is from: Muffins A to Z (The A to Z Cookbook Series) (Hardcover)
My Mom gave me this cookbook after finding it used. It was so full of great recipes that I ordered one for my cousin who also loves baking. Now my husband has also made a recipe out of it. I think we will get through the whole alphabet before long because so far each recipe is super! Each uses basic ingredients and doesn't take long to make, but the muffins come out great. There are some really creative ingredient combinations that work very well together. Also she gives a recipe for basic muffin mix to keep on hand, where you can just add whatever you want to make muffins in a jiffy! If you love to bake, I suggest you get this little book - it's definitely worth the price, especially from a used book seller.
