Product Description

Keep your car original! Muggy Weld's Super Alloy 1 is the rod of choice for pot metal repair. With a melting point of only 350°F, Super Alloy 1 bonds at half the melting point of pot metal, while its honey flux turns root beer brown to indicate when the base metal has reached the proper temperature--enabling anyone to restore pot metal quickly and easily. Super Alloy 1 is ideal for repairing pot metal pitting, and can be applied with any heat source-- including a soldering gun, heat gun, or propane torch with no welding expertise. Can you plate it? Absolutely! Is it strong? As strong as the base metal. Super Alloy 1 also works on zinc die cast, pewter, brass, copper, galvanized metal, steel, bronze, thin aluminum, stainless steel, and more in any combination. You can solder copper to aluminum or steel to zinc die cast at 20,000 PSI. Note: Super Alloy 1 cannot be used to repair aluminum boats, please use Super Alloy 5 for this application. CAUTION: Super Alloy 1 CONTAINS CADMIUM AND IS NOT FOOD GRADE.

I repaired a crack in my 1968 Chrysler, pot metal grill. Great adhesion, easy to use. Just practice on a junk piece of the same material. I practiced for 5 minutes then welded the real thing in 5 minutes. If you can sweat pipe, you can do this. Just follow the directions and watch the YouTube video.

Finally someone has made a product that really is the right stuff for pot metal repair. Had a cracked float bowl for a vintage motorcycle carb and was worried there was no hope. Was able to not only repair crack but build up material to make up for distorted shape and add strength. This is a must-have item for anyone doing repair or restoration work.

Bought it to repair a light fixture and reviewed the demo online but still could not get it to work. Too bad, I needed it to and lost money trying.
