This is a real page turner! I have spent hours completely engrossed in this book, quenching my thirst for knowledge. I am amazed by the contrast of the personalities of the people as Muslims in comparsion to their personalities before the advent of Islam in Arabia. They were transformed from war starting, alocohal drinking, womanizing gamblers to pious, rightous men who worried about their brothers in Islam before they even thought about themselves.
This is a MUST MUUUUSSSTT read for all those who want to earnestly learn about Islam and Muslims.I would like to commend Salahi on his honest effort. It definitely must have taken many years of reserach to ensure the validity of the claims that were made in the book. That's another thing! Everything in this book is cited! Unlike many authors, Salahi didn't just decide whatever he was saying was right and stick it in the market.Read more ›
One of the things I was most unaware of before reading this book was just how much adversity the first Muslims faced. It is certainly reminiscent of the first Christians. Muhammad and his followers after their exile from Mecca were extremely impoverished. In the end I think these hardships helped to solidify his position amongst his followers since those who followed him were the most committed.
As I said this is a very good work. I also liked how the author goes through and explains some of the names and talks a little about pronunciation of Arabic. It just helps the reader's flow when they have a little better grasp on the words.
All in all, if you are looking for a biography of Muhammad then look no further. I highly recommend this book.
I came across this book through searching Amozon one lonley night and it proved to be a thrilling read. The book provides and un-biased and factually based account of events that lead to the development of one of the worlds largest religions. 5 Stars
