Outstanding Work Delivered with an Eloquent Style,
By Ahmed Bursevi "spiritoflovewins" (Collierville, TN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Muhammad: The Messenger of Islam (Paperback)
This masterpiece by Hajjah Amina Adil describes the life and prophecy of Muhammad (SAV) in its authentic form, with an extremely beautiful and eloquent style. Among others, the chapter on The Mi'raj of the Prophet Muhammad(SAV) that describes how He "ascended to the heavens on a stairway of precious gems beginning at al-Quds(Jerusalem) during his lifetime and in his pure physical form" particularly was a source of profound spiritual enlightenment for me. Hajjah Amina Adil has given a wonderful gift to believers of the three main monotheistic faiths (Islam, Christianity and Judaism), and to those who have an interest in studying them. Furthermore, this publication is a real life example of how Muslim women have been helping people from all walks of life better understand traditional Islam. It is a must read for all who would like to gain an in-depth understanding of the life and prophecy of Muhammad(SAV).

Fantasktic, Beyond Compare,
By Mary Toweego (Davis, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Muhammad: The Messenger of Islam (Paperback)
This book brings to the West the Merciful Grace of Islam in a most splendorous manner. The intimate details of the Prophet Muhammad's life from his conception to his death; the details of his miraculous journey through the heavens during his lifetime are detailed in a manner never before revealed here in the US. His most majesty statemanship enacted through diamond clarity with gracious mercy and forgiveness is an example to all leaders, teachers and all people caring to create a most honorable role in life. The appearance of this book at this time in America is a great blessing in creating an awareness of the true nature of Islam, a most beautiful and deeply personally caring religion. Read it and enjoy its great and subtly unfolding rewards!

INCREDIBLE READ + DETAIL,
By "talibah@kamilat.org" (San Francisco) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Muhammad: The Messenger of Islam (Paperback)
As I quickly discovered when carousing a local retail store, this particular biography delivers so much more than competitive works, for the same price! For starters, the page count is double of others. Muhammad's comprehensive and quite impressive family tree is outlined in the first chapter. Also, the entire account is told from a Muslim perspective, as opposed to a Western writer trying to interpret Islamic lore and tradition from within their limited construct, giving the reader a sense of "insider information". It narrates Muhammad's life as it has been told in the Muslim world for 14 centuries. This alone makes it worth the read. However, there is a lot more.

Why the Prophet is a guide for all of humanity,

This review is from: Muhammad: The Messenger of Islam (Paperback)
As I began to read this wonderful book, my heart leapt with such joy. Finally I had been provided with a way towards the path of true understanding of the most inspiring and beautiful human being who ever walked the face of the earth. Muhammad: The Messenger of Islam is a book for those who are looking to build their understanding not only from and intellectual point of view but more importantly from an esoteric, deep and transcendent one.
May Allah guide us all towards this knowledge and open our hearts so that we are able to accept its grace. If you read no other book on the life of the Prophet, please make this one the one that you do read. Peace.

Exellent idea but.....,
By Gogol (England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Muhammad: The Messenger of Islam (Paperback)
This is realy an exellent idea in what seems to be an attempt to present a more 'mystical' biography of the life of the Prophet Muhammad to the English reader. In this respect it would serve as the perfect companion to Martin Lings' exellent work.
Unfortunatly unlike Martin Lings' 'seerah' this book is deeply flawed in that it does not mention it's souces. Just to simply say 'compiled from classical Ottoman Turkish souces' is simply not good enough. What Ottoman Turkish souces? Cevet Pasha? Suleyman Chelebi? While Martin Lings clearly states where he has taken his source material there is neither footnote nor bibliography for further reading. This is a great pity as it greatly decreases the value of this book especially as Islam has a tradition of scrupulously stating all sources. If one was to quote this work in a University paper for example, it would most likely be rejected as it does not quote any source. Thankfully, the history books of Tabari have all been translated into English as has the work of ibn Ishaq, the Nahjat of Imam Ali, the first 4 books of the Bidayat of ibn Kathir, the al-Kafi and most of the books of traditions of Sunni Islam (Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud etc) so the English speaker has access to some original sources. The book contains details of the birth of the Prophet and events surrounding his birth and the Isra and Miraj introducing new material that many people may not be aware of (another important reason that the sources needed to be stated)it is unfortunate as this book could have been a very valuable work and probably still is but due to it's lack of any sources it is more likely to cause more debate and controversy than anything else. The lack of index is also a problem. Sorry to sound so negative but if only for the above reasons this could have been one of the most important books on the life of the Prophet Muhamamd in the English language.

I have read many many books on the life of our Prophet (PBUH). Many of those books were award-winning. However none can be compared to this one. Here, the author takes you on a journey from divine to the earthly. You enjoy the fragrance of the holiness of this journey while reading the book.
Every paragraph is like a newly revealed secret about the life of the Prophet (PBUH). The writing style is very much scholarly yet very much easy for general readers. Also the binding is very good quality and the cover design complements the writings. The price is even lower for such a great scholarly effort.

Recommended to friends and colleagues,
By Carmen (New York City) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Muhammad: The Messenger of Islam (Paperback)
I am a social worker in NYC where we have a substantial Islamic population. Some of our cases involve members of the Islamic faith, many of whom are first or second generation Americans. This book has helped me better understand how their normally peaceful religion has been hijacked into what we see today, with a heavy discrimination against women and people outside the Islamic faith. According to this biography, Muhammad taught religious tolerance and respect for all God's creatures, and he held eminent respect for women, included them in important work and often consulted them. I enjoyed the book immensely, but more than this I found a deeper appreciation for one of the world religions that is so little understood here in the US.
